I have just come back from two days at Villa Fenaroli Palace Hotel, which I was using as a base for an event up on Lake Garda. My flight was delayed, and the car hire company that I booked with was closed. I took a bus into Brescia and a taxi to the hotel which was under 20 euros. I arrived a little travel weary and was welcomed by Andrea on reception which put me in a better mood. The hotel is grand, more palace than villa. If it's the word palace that catches your eye you won't be disappointed. High ceilings, marble, and a stately feel. My room, 206, had a more rustic feel than the rest of the building but it was spacious and the bathroom was large with marble floor and walls. The bed was a little hard and thin, but okay, and I was so tired that I would have slept well anywhere. Fittings are of high quality and there is a well-stocked minibar. Breakfast the next day was very good and you can have it out on the balcony of the breakfast room which is a special experience. Davide on reception also stood out, arranging taxis and generally being helpful. In the evening I ate in the restaurant which had an offer; about 45 euros for three courses and a glass of wine. The food was good quality. One of the dishes on offer was foal steak which was a bit alarming, but I'm sure it was a typo. I was the only person dining, but I was not ignored and Lorenzo checked on me regularly and efficiently served my dinner with care. I do not think there are leisure facilities, and no swimming pool. There were large weddings on both nights but these really did not impact me. I could barely hear the music in my room and it stopped at 11.30 p.m. as was promised at reception. It is such a grand location I can see why they have a successful wedding business and it's good to see. I will be going back at some stage, perhaps for leisure and for longer. Highly recommended.

“Lovely!”

Lovely place, delicious breakfast, very helpful staff. We truly enjoyed our one night stay. Our teenagers loved the gym and my husband and I had very enjoyable evening outside. We also enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the morning.

We stayed for 4 nights. The hotel is superficially impressive, and very clean. It’s grand in the extreme and yet, it misses the mark somewhat. There are no toiletries in the bathroom. Just a single bar of soap. The beds are incredibly wobbly, and the duvets despite it being October, were thin, and in the cupboard. The phone in the room has no instructions to enable calling reception, we gave up and used our mobile phone. There is no sitting area - the one on the website is now a cloakroom. The bar, such as it is, had no atmosphere and mostly no staff. And it doesn’t open until 5 which meant there was simply nowhere to have a coffee and relax. The restaurant service was impeccable but the carpaccio was frozen, and there was soya in the sauce which I’d specifically asked about. So all in all it’s a good hotel for photo shoots or maybe events. But no more.
