We choose this hotel because of its excellent location and good value for money. The staff were fine and all spoke good English and were happy to chat. The continental breakfast was good and plentyful and we always found a seat and helped ourselves to what we wanted as everthing on offer was quickly replenished. The rooms were well fitted, especially with there three large mirrors !! the only quirk being no drawers. This was a good hotel that we would have no issue in using again.

We were only in Milan for four days and we prefer to be close to the Duomo. On our last visit, we stayed at a pretty good hotel that suited most of our requirements but had two aspects we didn’t care for - round beds and price. So a fairly easy search turned up the Brunelleschi, which was literally half the price of our last hotel in Milan and mercifully - regular shaped beds. Most of the reviews we read online were fairly accurate. I think TA does a better job at grading hotels than restaurants. So the location was perfect, the Duomo being a couple of minutes stroll away (plus taxis are able to drop you off at the front door). The decor of the hotel does harp back to the 20th century. Lots of stark contrasts and seventies style. It’s not a boutique hotel by any means - being much bigger than it looks from the exterior images. The public areas are all in good shape and reasonably comfy. We didn’t use the bar or the restaurant so cannot comment on those. The staff at reception ranged from very friendly, to some stony-faced characters (note: this isn’t a complaint, just an observation). Our room was pretty good, having everything we required for our stay. Everything in the room worked as it should and the fixtures and fittings (while some bits looked a little tired) were made during an era when build quality was king. There was little evidence of shoddy, modern MDF furniture but real, solid wood fittings - very nice. I wouldn’t stay in our room (202) if you’re the kind of guest who likes a room with a view. Our window had a front row seat to some industrial looking machinery in an inner courtyard. Breakfasts were taken in the lower ground floor and consisted of pretty standard hotel offerings. There was plenty of choice but some aspects (notably the machine dispensed “juice”) were pretty basic. The staff at breakfast did a fantastic job of keeping the place ticking over smoothly, credit for that. So in conclusion, the hotel Brunelleschi is a pretty good hotel, at this price point. As I said, we have stayed at other Milan hotels costing twice as much but delivering less. If all you want from a hotel is a great location and a decent night's sleep - you could do much worse.

Minutes from the Duomo and its countless restaurants and bars, the Brunelleschi's location is faultless. It's also a lot cheaper than every other large hotel in this prime location and the complimentary minibar is a nice touch. The staff were super friendly and helpful, whether the front desk or housekeeping who fetched us extra pillows. The 90s decor did not faze me in the slightest because the room was spotless and how much time will you be spending in it whilst in Milan? Breakfast was copious with plenty of choice from full English to pastries and kept very orderly and clean. Perfect for our 4 day minibreak. NB city tax is now 10 euros per person per night in Milan, something to bear in mind.

“Reasonably priced Milan base for short stay”

A very nice hotel in an excellent location next to Duomo, Galleria Emanuel and Metro. Very nice staff.
