Staying here now! wow what a hotel! Location is stunning, rooms are really nice with old classic furniture and a very good bed. The hotel is in a very old building but they have done the rooms modern with a very nice bathroom but the hotel looks like it's from 18 century. Breakfast... very good and the best coffee you can imagine, this barista knows how to make coffee! In walking distance from all what you want to see in the center of Milan but prices at the cafes are half the price of what it is near the center. Highly recommended hotel, especially for couples!

“A Wonderful Stay at a Charming, Historic Hotel”

We had a slight mix‑up with our booking, but it was sorted out before arrival with absolutely no drama. Upon checking in, we were warmly greeted and immediately felt at ease. Hotel Maison Borella is a very traditional Italian property, and it gives off a wonderfully warm, authentic atmosphere. The building itself dates back to the 1700s, later refurbished into the hotel in 2015, and it really shows in the best possible way. Many original features have been beautifully preserved, stone floors, wooden beams, and exposed brick walls , all thoughtfully blended with modern comforts. There are some reviews mentioning noise from outside when stopping in the front rooms, and I can understand why given its location along the lively Naviglio Grande. However, we stayed in one of the wings overlooking the courtyard and weren’t disturbed at all. Our room was simple but comfortable, with a good shower, cooling and reliable Wi‑Fi. Breakfast was perfectly adequate, with some standout touches such as the homemade quiche, very enjoyable scrambled eggs, and coffee made properly from a real machine. The bar service was okay, perhaps a little slow at times, but nothing that detracted from the experience. Check‑out was smooth and straightforward. Would I stay here again? Absolutely. The location is perfect for exploring and enjoying the Naviglio Grande nightlife, and the hotel’s charm and history make it a delightful place to return to.

Review – Maison Borella Maison Borella is truly a place we would recommend. However, it’s good to be aware of possible noise if you stay in the rooms at the front of the hotel. Rooms 103, 104 and 105 have a beautiful view of the canal, but the many terraces along the canal are often filled with young people celebrating until around 2:00 a.m. Early in the morning the glass collection containers are also emptied. We are deep sleepers and were not bothered by it, but if you are a light sleeper it is something to keep in mind. The lobby and restaurant are beautifully decorated and have a very warm atmosphere. For lunch we had steak tartare and spaghetti vongole, both delicious. For dinner we ordered the schnitzel with fried potatoes – enormous in size! The tiramisu was excellent. The reception staff and the restaurant service were very friendly and welcoming. If you arrive by car, there are several parking garages nearby, but you should expect about a 10-minute walk with your luggage, as parking directly along the canal was not very successful for us. The metro and a hop-on hop-off bus stop are close by. Walking to the Duomo takes about 20 minutes. There is also a small boat crossing the canal, but in our opinion it’s not really worth the money since the ride is only about five minutes each way. Would we return to Hotel Maison Borella? Yes, absolutely!

Hotel was outstanding. Situated on the canal. Very clean and friendly helpful staff. We knew being on the canal it would not be the quietest of locations but ear plugs are provided. It would be good to have a mirror in the room as well as the bathroom but this is a minor point. The restaurant we were a little disappointed with as the food was only lukewarm and when mentioned the staff could have handled differently. However with that said the food was amazing.
