1st time visiting Lake Garda and would definitely return , hotel room overlooking the lake with a large balcony room spotless Breakfast continental with coffee ,tea and juice Dinner hot meals salad and deserts Every day there would be a menu at reception to browse to see what you would be eating that night We were out every day after breakfast exploring either by foot , bus or ferry just a 5 min walk to catch find the timetables at information box outside hotel Lovely resturants and cafes to sit back and chill out which we do when we returned from days out missing the church bells already Only downside very quiet in the evening at hotel think abit of soft music in the background whilst enjoying a drink Would be nice

This hotel is a hidden gem in the beautiful village of Maderno on the western shore of Lake Garda . I cannot fault the location at all , we had a lake view room and the views were worth the small supplement . It was clean although it could use a lick of paint in places and maybe some art work in the rooms them selves because the walls were plain . The bathroom was adequate but could use some updating but it was clean and perfectly functional . The food was just ok but there was always something to eat and the fish was always good , breakfast was good too with the usual continental choices , don’t expect your full English btw . The pool area was lean and well kept and there were plenty of loungers too both in the sun and shade . The pool is cold but once you’re in it’s lovely . It looses a point on drinks , choices were quite limited and compared to other bars in the village quite expensive although still comparatively cheap compared to home . Definitely would come back .

Hotel very clean but basic. No thought into disabled guests at all. Breakfast buffet was excellent, hot and cold choices as well as cappuccino coffee. Evening meal was very hit and miss. Soup very good. Main course was served every day with potatoes sprinkled with rosemary. Very disappointed, very bland and basic. Desserts was okay. Bedroom was very basic, there was only one electric socket by the door and one in the bathroom. Hairdryer was useless. Beds very hard. Pillows were like concrete. Nothing to do in the evenings. Very good spot for the water taxis. Car ferry to Garda across the lake every 30 minutes and very cheap. Visit the markets if you get the chance as they are very good. If you have walking issues then check with rep as to which ports are the best for you. Also be aware the hotel charge you £5 for a bottle of water for the table. Adds up when you have one every meal time. Hotel lacks decorative accessories but understand that it’s up for sale! Certainly don’t think it warrants 4 stars, more like 3.

This hotel is in a great location, on the waterfront just metres away from the ferry quay and bus stops. It appears to be family-run which is a welcome change from chain hotels elsewhere, but it’s quite old-school in many ways and could do with a bit of attention to the expectations of visitors these days. The first room we were allocated was in need of a bit of a refurb, in particular the addition of more sockets and some new furniture. We were able to change to a different room which was slightly smaller, but the shower and balcony were bigger and there were a more sockets that were accessible. The wardrobe was big and included drawers and a free safe. Neither room had a kettle, as warned by previous posters, but there was a fridge so you can buy fresh milk and other drinks in the nearby supermarkets. The pool area is lovely. There are plenty of sunbeds, no charge for pool towels, lots of shade from the trees and poolside service from the bar. The food offer is adequate – we didn’t go hungry – but the dining room doesn’t open early even on days when there are big departure numbers just before the 8am opening time. The breakfast bag provided on request didn’t look particularly appealing, but happily a couple of the cafes in the nearby square open by 6.30am, in time for a croissant and coffee before departure. Accessibility wasn’t great, even taking into account that the building isn’t new. There are steps into reception, which means just getting suitcases in and out is challenging let alone if you have limited mobility, and there are also steps from the buffet to the outside dining area which aren’t always easy to see. It wouldn’t break the bank to invest in a folding ramp at least to help people access the reception area. Once inside there is a lift to all floors. This hotel may technically meet the requirements of a four-star rating, but a three-star rating would probably help manage people’s expectations. That all said, we had no major complaints about the hotel, and had a lovely time. Maderno suited us well, with its easy access by ferry to the northern and southern ends of the lake, and regular buses to neighbouring towns.
