I chose this place in part due to reviews I’d read. In part due to location and in part due to things I know I like about holidays. This place is fabulous. It’s pretty. The location is amazing. The food is first class and gourmet in style. Tonight I had probably one of the best meals I have ever had. The chef is a genius. If you don’t like posh food or are not prepared to hike up and down in to Malcesine (which is a beautiful lakeside town with many things to do) don’t come. The service has been truly stunning. The staff are attentive, polite and knowledgeable (especially around the wine and food served). This has been one of the best holidays I have had in Europe. Things I might change if I could - The rooms need tea and coffee making facilities. The hike up the hill from most of the parking bays is a challenge. Help bringing luggage to the room would have been appreciated. This location is not disabled suitable - this is not a criticism. Simply an observation.

This is a lovely hotel set in gardens with fabulous views. The staff are so professional and helpful and you can book different types of rooms to suit your budget. We have returned many times and so have others we talked to - evidencing just how good it is. We always stay half board and would recommend this as the food is delicious and the staff are friendy, efficient and professional. The Head Waiter is particularly good - Fabrizio. The staff also tailored the food to my dietary requirements without any difficulty. Some guests chose to walk into Malcesine for evening meals and that is an option but if you want to eat balanced, fresh, enjoyable and creative food then eat in the hotel. The cleanliness everywhere is superb and the gardener and his assistant never stop working on the beautiful flowers, plants, shrubs, grass. Everything is done unobtrusively so you never feel hassled. There are plenty of sunbeds to go round although one or two people do put the towels out early - don't worry about this as this sorts itself out and everyone gets a chance of the 'best' views. The lake road runs underneath the hotel as it is on a bit of a hill but this didn't trouble us. The strength of this hotel is the staff - some have been there for many years but their standards never drop and they obviously like to work there. The hotel has an indoor spa with steam rooms, sauna etc but we didn't use this on this occasion. There is a pool bar where you can get light lunches and drinks - staffed by the ever attentive Antonio. The walk into Malcesine is along a pretty lakeside walk which is accessed by either a fairly steep path or steps - there is also a bus or you can take a taxi plus the hotel freely loans you a bicycle which we used.

Do not hesitate to book this hotel. Perfectly sited. Waiters ( Pepe & Simoni) reception staff and of course the food at this hotel was brilliant. Do not hesitate to book this hotel. Perfectly sited. Waiters ( Pepe & Simoni) reception staff and of course the food at this hotel was brilliant. We stayed half board, 5 courses in the evening and you can choose from a selection of meals for the starter and main course.. Pool area and hotel rooms were clean with perfectly manicured gardens. Only downside was no kettle, tea or coffee facilities in the room, we did have a mini fridge.

Returned home yesterday after our fourth visit to this hotel. A true wonderful place. A pleasure to meet the very professional staff once again. Fabrizio and his team in the restaurant including Matteo and Giuseppe, Antonio at the pool bar, Ray and his new lady colleague at reception, I mustn’t forget the cleaning ladies either, all of them play their part in the smooth operation of this superb hotel. The location, with the views across the lake, the well tended gardens, the historic buildings. Staying here is an experience you will not forget.
