What a lovely boutique hotel, a bit of a challenge to find but luckily our driver knew where the entrance was.  The entrance is old wooden double doors leading to a multi occupied building. Hotel Matilde is on the second floor. The lift is old but was useful for our luggage. The foyer and staircase was damp smelling and a bit off-putting to be frank. But then you reach the automatic doors to the glorious Hotel Matilde and it is fabulous. Beautiful decor and rooms. The lovely Luigi was there to greet and assist and the room was spacious and well air-conditioned. The view onto the mall was stunning. The lady on the reception desk in the morning was lovely. The breakfast was continental and decent. I did find the female server at the bar a bit standoffish. She looked disgruntled if you asked for a coffee but that was the only way you could get one and didn't give me milk after asking so I helped myself. They should put a milk jug out. For simplicity we ordered cappuccinos the next 2 mornings. All in all a great hotel, good location and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Well located hotel close to shopping and dining on Via Toledo, one of the main shopping streets. The street is advertised as pedestrian only but scooters zip by and cars cross. The metro station is a short 10 minute walk away. The hotel is contemporary and minimalistic, almost stark, and very well kept. All 20 rooms are on the same floor. Breakfast buffet is included and the selection was good enough for us. Staff is friendly and helpful. Special shout out to Luigi! We had an outside window room that faced Via Toledo which was great for people watching but not so great at night for noise due to street cleaners and garbage collection if you are a light sleeper. The room and bathroom was large by European standards. The entrance to the hotel is down a small side street next to the Galleria Umberto and easily missed as the door is between 2 large outdoor food tents. You need to find the door bell to be buzzed in, so very secure. There is a cute elevator for 2 that will take you up to the hotel level. Would definitely stay here again. Great location, great accommodations and great staff!

Our first trip to Naples was made truly unforgettable thanks to our stay at Hotel Matilde. We stayed here for 4 nights and 5 days, and every moment was exceptional. From the moment we arrived, everything stood out—the fantastic central location, the comfortable and well-kept rooms, and most importantly, the exceptional service from the entire staff. The hotel is perfectly situated on Via Toledo, where you can soak in the lively energy of the city right from your window. Yet, once the windows are closed, the rooms are incredibly peaceful and quiet—truly the best of both worlds. A very special thank you to Anna, Rebecca, Luigi, and Fabio at reception, who were always warm, welcoming, respectful, and incredibly helpful. Their knowledge and genuine smiles made us feel at home right away. We were equally touched by Pia and Gerald in the breakfast area, who went above and beyond every single day. They thoughtfully prepared diet-appropriate meals for us and even packed breakfasts to go for our early excursions—often remembering our preferences without us even needing to ask. Their kindness and attention to detail, especially toward our 4-year-old, meant so much to us. We also want to mention the gentleman by the elevator (we’re so sorry we didn’t catch his name), who kindly helped us operate it and even provided a coin to get us to the correct floor—such a small but incredibly thoughtful gesture that we truly appreciated. Even the housekeeping staff, despite language differences, were always smiling, greeting us warmly, and ensuring all our needs were taken care of with care and attention. This stay made a world of difference in our first experience of Naples. The warmth and kindness of the people here really shine through—it’s something that makes you want to come back again and again. We highly recommend this hotel if you truly want to enjoy Naples right in the heart of the city center and be close to everything! Thank you for such a wonderful and thoughtful experience. “Great Hotel”

The room was spotless and overlooked the shopping area without being too noisy. The bed was comfy and the shower had good water pressure and heat. The staff were polite and efficient.
