Grand Hotel Sestriere

“AMAZING BAR MAN WHO CAN MAKE THE BEST BLOODY MARYS IN THE WORLD!”

This was a great week in a hotel that is close to slopes, food is good, rooms cleaned every day but the bar man called ALBERTO made it for us! This is a man who can take on any cocktail challenge and smash it out of the park 😂 especially the BLOODY MARYS!

Very nice Ski Hotel, with an excellent restaurant (Half board and amazing choice of food). The bar is a jewel in the crown, and the barmen (Alberto and Paolo) looked after us all week with great Italian beers and cocktails, (the bloody mary comes highly recommended). All the staff are great, and helpful with any request. You will not go wanting here. The rates are good value too.

“Excellent all round”

A very warm and welcoming hotel. The staff are all very friendly. The rooms are warm and comfortable and have everything you need, if a little basic. They are cleaned every day. The bar and conservatory are lovely and cosy for relaxing and the bar staff are fabulous and really know how to make a cocktail. The spa was very good and at €20 for 2 hours it seemed reasonable. Especially as we had the place to ourselves in the afternoon while everyone else was on the slopes. The food for both breakfast and evening meal is fabulous with a fantastic selection available at both. So much to choose from and all very tasty. There is a shuttle available down to the slope if you have ski gear with you but we walked down as our skis were kept at the hire place nearer the skiing. It’s a very short walk. Over the road is a small town square with bars and a supermarket and a couple of restaurants. I think all rooms at this hotel probably have an excellent view as it really is in a beautiful setting. Thank you also for helping to arrange a special birthday treat for us while we were staying with you. It was very much appreciated.

“Group family ski trip with young children”

We had a fantastic family group trip to Sestriere. The skiing was excellent, the weather couldn’t have been better, and we found everyone to be incredibly friendly and welcoming. We travelled as a group of 8 adults and 2 young children (aged 4 and almost 2), and overall had a wonderful holiday. The location of the Grand Hotel Sestriere is ideal—just under a 10-minute walk to the slopes, which made for a perfect pre-ski warm-up each morning. The food was lovely, with a great variety and choice available each evening. The staff were truly fantastic, particularly with the children, and always went out of their way to help—nothing ever felt like too much trouble. Our room was comfortable and suited our needs well. We stayed in a superior room to accommodate a cot for our toddler, and there was enough space for us to enjoy a comfortable week. We also had a balcony with stunning views of the resort and ski area, which was a real highlight. There were a couple of minor drawbacks. Our room (319) had not yet been updated with socket outlets compatible with UK travel adaptors. Fortunately, as we were travelling in a group, we were able to use sockets in other rooms that had been upgraded. While this wasn’t a major issue for us, it might have been more inconvenient if we were travelling alone, and we would likely have requested a room change. On arrival, we were pleased to find a thoughtful ‘sleep well’ kit, including an eye mask and ear plugs. However, as the week went on, it became clear why these were provided. Noise from the nightclub at the other end of the hotel could be heard late into the night—often until around 4am. With a toddler, this proved quite disruptive and was a significant downside for us. Despite having a truly enjoyable holiday, it’s a shame that this issue has influenced our decision not to return to this hotel next season.
