“Impressed”

Room was hot, but the that was the only fault I could see. They even gave us a complementary wine (I cannot actually drink, but it’s the thought that counts). The service was friendly and helpful. I’m honestly I’m impressed.

Hotel Canada is, quite simply, the best hotel I have stayed in. It is the perfect boutique hotel, beautifully restored in a charming terrace. The decor suggests the splendour of a past era with beautifully painted ceilings not only in public rooms but also in our junior suite. I understand they are historic. Elsewhere walls are highlighted in trompe-l’oeil panelling. The furniture and other furnishings match the decor, again in the bedrooms and suites. What a pleasure to sit in the lounge or on the small terrace (used by smokers but tolerably so) or in the delightful bar which serves light snacks, extremely pleasant and very reasonably priced wines and other drinks - I recommend a night cap of one of their excellent grappas. Relaxing in our suite was also such a pleasure. The walk-in shower in the two part, perfectly designed en suite was excellent. And we slept well, the windows dulling the minimal street noise. An extensive breakfast buffet with a wide range of cold dishes and some hot dishes, bakery goods, cereals and juices was available in the lovely, bright (windows along two walls) room decorated in the style of the property. Hot drinks are ordered at the table. But best of all is that this is family owned, family managed by the third generation who have cared for this property and hotel. Their attention to detail and to managing the hotel with a focus not just on their heritage but also on the customer’s comfort is apparent every where. And the staff we interacted with reflect that philosophy. One irritation, as pointed out by my husband in another review, was the fact that the entrance has several steps from the street and no clear way to request help with the big, heavy cases we had. A simple sign at a bell push would suffice. This is an hotel I’d love to return to and I seldom say that. It was a perfect end to our European holiday and a wonderful place to stay in Rome. We enjoyed 3 nights at this family run splendid hotel, on second floor in room 220, with its 2 painted ceilings and antique furniture . We enjoyed 3 nights at this family run splendid hotel, on second floor in room 220, with its 2 painted ceilings and antique furniture . The room is actually a suite 2 TV’s, and the walk in shower and wash room are like the hotel TOP quality and so well fitted out and cleaned. There are 2 small lifts. The only thing wrong was that there is no front door bell for assistance, we had to carry our large cases in, yet there is help taking bags to the room! The breakfast room large and charming, with some hot and masses of good cold food. Hot drinks served at table. Don’t miss the charming bar with great wine list, and the little courtyard “garden” space off the bar. They sell stick ices, and ham/cheese toasted things. We would love to stay here again. (The hotel will sell you Greenline hop on bus tickets, but maybe the Red bus would be better ?)
