We found this hotel after researching areas and so grateful we did. From the moment we first emailed the hotel staff for information regarding access for my mother who was hiring a wheelchair, they were just incredible. Every single member of staff in this hotel was so friendly, welcoming and spoke multiple languages to all guests. The hotel organised fantastic transfers for us with wonderful drivers, who basically did a running commentary tour of Rome on each journey. We organised a wheelchair to be delivered to the hotel and they stored it for us each day, but let us come and go like we were family to access it. We cannot reommend the brilliant staff highly enough and we forgot to ask all their names - the two main gentlemen on reception in the day were incredible with their customer service skills. Marco on reception was super friendly too and Beatrice our cleaner with language skills that could be great on reception was fab too. The breakfasts were brilliant, varied selection and the staff were only too happy to help you make it a perfect experience. The view from the breakfast terrace will stay with me for life, beautiful way to start the day with a sunrise breakfast overlooking the Altar of the kingdom, the Pantheon and the Vatican / St Peter's Basilica. We were encouraged to go up the terrace at any time so we often had a picnic lunch up there, late afternoon prosecco watching the sun go down, bliss. There is a fantastic Carrefour shop just a 3 minute walk from the hotel (up towards the Tiber river / bridge, but turn right at junction before and walk along the street for 2 mins). We picked up 2 salads and water for 7 euros, together with a bottle of prosecco... great simple lunch with a view. Our room was 214 and was fairly dark (without the lights on) as it was in the inner courtyard area (rooms 506 - 508 are the best balcony / street facing rooms) but it was quite lovely for sleeping as it was peaceful and restful. The bedding is quite old fashioned and we wished we had just had sheets rather than the blanket in between (but we just removed these for our stay) and it was lovely. The pillows were ok but again could do with being softer but overall for the dream location, the exceptional staff we would stay there again in a heartbeat as we thoroughly loved it. We brought the wrong charging adapter and the hotel staff were so brilliant and lent us one for the duration of our stay. In our room we had a fridge that was well stocked but we never needed that. There was also tea and coffee / kettle but again we didn't get round to using them. The staff in the hotel were constantly asking us if they could help with anything, suggested restaurants for us that were local (the restaurant adjacent to the hotel was outstanding Piazza Fiammetta) and just across the street down a small street there is another exceptional restaurant called Gusto - the also do pasta making classes. The restaurant facing the hotel Anni 60 is good too but not as incredible as the others. The staff were wonderful though. We did the pink tour bus - the number 6 stop is just a 5/10 min walk from the hotel and the staff were brilliant on it, we did the 24 hr hop on hop off bus tour. Then got off at the Colosseum for lunch and a tour, then hopped back on. We didn't realise but people in Wheelchair's and 1 carer get in free to all the attractions so we were pleasantly surprised. The pavements in Rome are not terribly wheelchair friendly but if you stick to the main streets outside this hotel and go straight up to the Tiber river and over the bridge you can easily push a wheelchair the whole way to the Vatican. For some attractions we asked the hotel to call us a taxi to get us to the Trevi fountain etc.. and they were wonderful at helping us with this. We also found a brilliant healthy juice bar (Kepo) near the Spanish steps. We have already recommended this hotel to several friends and family and we will definitely never chose any other hotel over this one, the traditional style of the building, the staff, the location, the service, everything was just incredible and we are so grateful to all the staff involved in making our staff so enjoyable.

Hotel was alright, the rooms were clean and the staff was very friendly. Breakfast was better than expected for a continental breakfast. Located in a very good area with walking distance to most tourist attractions and many nice restaurants nearby. The only issue we had at was that upon checkin we were informed that the hotel was double booked and they did not have two double rooms available for as the first note as booked. Instead we were offered four single rooms for the first night, or to change to another hotel nearby for the first night. We chose the four single rooms, which were fine but very small. They were also spread out over four floors. It was okay for us as we were four adults, but might be tricky if travelling with children or teenagers.

“PERFECT LOCATION - GREAT STAFF - NICE ROOFTOP TERRACE”

Look no further if a perfect location in the historic center of Rome is a major priority of yours - Hotel Genio will meet your expectations. Few metres from Piazza Navona only and within easy walking distance to all major sights such as the Trevi Fontaine, the Pantheon and the Spanish Steps. Add to that an extreme welcoming and helpful staff. What more do you need? Hotel Genio is not fancy nor boasting a lot of activiities/services, but if you are in town for a few days' of sightseeing/shopping or business, you will find what you need. The room had a nice size with a fine ajacent private bath/shower. The style is traditional with no frills but albeit down the more old fashioned lane everything was well maintained, clean and nice. The rooms come with a mini-bar and free coffee/tea maker. There are cons and pros as to which room to choose as some turn towards an uninteresting courtyard while others face the street. The first mentioned will give you a peaceful night's sleep while you may expect some noise from the surrounding bars/restaurants if choosing one with a lovely street view. A few rooms are located high up and offers a private balcony, but I believe that they are in the expensive end. A major asset of Hotel Genio is their rooftop terrace offering a beautiful 360 degree view of Rome and its redtiled roofs and famous domes and towers. Plants and flowers and comfortable terrace furnitures invite to relaxing moments - and you are welcome to bring up a mug of coffee and even a bottle of your own wine should you like. A great place to unwind between busy sightseeing and shopping. Hotel Genio has no restaurant of its own, but the surrounding area is dotted with bars, caffees and eateries and the staff in the reception is more than happy to assist you find just the perfect place to dine or wine. We asked for recommendation for a genuine Italian restaurant with traditional fare where the locals would go out for a meal themselves and were directled to a nice place few min. walk away in a small side street, that we should never have found on our own, "Osteria de Memmo". Here we experienced exactly what we were looking for. A non-touristic menu at very reasonable prices and with loads of locals eating. Top. Breakfast is served at the top floor adjacent to the rooftop terrace and conistss of a typical Continental Buffet with extended sortiment such as boiled eggs, cerials and yoghourt. OBS: Many tourists - especially from overseas - do not realize that the Italians do not eat egg/bacon etc. for breakfast but rather have a cup of cappucino and a piece of tart or a croissant in the morning, hence finding these American and British items should not be expected at more local hotels such as Hotel Genio. We were OK with what was offered and enjoyed the beautiful view from the windows. As we were on a very tight schedule - Rome in 40 hrs. - we were very happy with the great assistance the staff at the reception offered us. Both before our arrival and during our stay helping us find the right transportation either by public transportation or priate taxi. We made use of the airport transfer and yet another transfer to suburban Rome by private taxi and albeit a bit more costy than hiring a taxi in the street we enjoyed that the car and driver were there in due time and swiftly brought us forth and back. You can very easily be cheated in Rome by taxi drivers, but here, we had a fixed price before booking and everything worked smoothly. In conclusion - no, this is not a fancy de-luxe hotel - but a very nice and well functioning lower first class hotel that caters well for its guests and offers you a perfect location, so we are happy to recommend this hotel to future trasvellers, and we shall be back next time Rome is on our schedule.

I stayed in a single room. Just to be clear!!! THIS IS NOT A 4 STARS single-room standard. I stayed in other 2 and 3-star hotels all over Europe and their standard was hugely better than Genio single room standard. And It was the smallest room I had ever seen in my life. I saw Genio's double rooms also. They were much better, but still not a real 4-star hotel. I would say a 3-ish. Location perfect to visit Rome, clean, good breakfast, nice personal.
