My wife and I spent four nights at Como Alpina Dolomites in June 2026, and it is difficult to rate this hotel anything other than 5 out of 5. We stayed in a fourth-floor Mountain View Suite. The hotel sits at the top of a mountain in a small ski village, with the main lift only about 50 yards away. The online photos make it appear more isolated than it actually is, but we did not see that as a negative. It is a true five-star resort that just happens to be located in a tiny Alpine village. The biggest takeaway from our stay was the service—it is exceptional. In many areas of the hotel, it almost feels as though the staff outnumber the guests. Whether at breakfast, the bar, the spa, or the bike shop, every interaction was warm and professional. We had one minor service issue at the casual restaurant, but it was clearly an exception rather than the rule. Unlike many ski properties, the hotel does not have the musty atmosphere that mountain lodges often develop. I have stayed in mountain hotels across Europe, and this feels much more like a luxury resort than a traditional ski lodge. The property is immaculate, and housekeeping is outstanding, with room service twice each day. Our suite included a king bedroom, a separate living area with a sofa, chair, and dining table for two, a separate toilet room, a dressing area, and a large bathroom. The bathroom featured dual sinks, a two-person shower, a two-person sauna, and a huge soaking tub. There was also a spacious balcony overlooking the mountains. We visited during the summer, when daytime temperatures were generally in the upper 60s Fahrenheit and evenings dropped into the low 40s. The hotel does not have air conditioning. We found the room too warm without airflow and ended up leaving the balcony doors open around the clock. There are three restaurants on the property. We only ate at the more casual restaurant, located in the round exterior building, and ordered room service on a couple of evenings. The food was consistently good. Breakfast, which is included, is served in one of the main restaurants and offers a traditional European hotel breakfast. The bar also provides complimentary afternoon snacks, and we found both the cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks to be excellent. The hotel has a heated indoor/outdoor pool. A jacuzzi would have been a nice addition, but the pool itself is beautiful. My wife visited the spa and was very pleased with the experience. There is also a bike and ski shop in the lower level of the hotel. We rented e-bikes for approximately €80 per day, including all equipment, and the staff there could not have been more helpful. If you visit during the summer, the primary attraction is the outdoor recreation. For context, we are from Georgia in the United States and live at roughly 500 feet above sea level. We are in our 40s, in reasonably good shape, and hike regularly. Even so, we definitely noticed the altitude. On our second day, we completed an easy 5.4-mile out-and-back hike to Rifugio Sanon with about 500 feet of elevation gain. It was a perfect warm-up. On the third day, we tackled a 15-mile loop from Compaccio to Rifugio Bolzano and Rifugio Alpe di Tires, with approximately 4,500 feet of climbing. Calling that hike difficult would be an understatement. On our final full day, we enjoyed a 15-kilometer e-bike loop that was a great way to recover. In hindsight, we should have done an easier hike on the second day. Highly recommend that you bring or rent hiking poles for these hikes. A few practical notes: 1. A €26 per day service charge is automatically added to your bill. Many receipts also provide an opportunity to leave an additional tip, and we did not realize the daily charge was already included. 2. There are not many dining options within walking distance of the hotel, so expect to eat most major meals on the property. That said, the mountain huts and refugios along the hiking and biking trails offer excellent food and are well worth visiting. 3. The main lift costs roughly €75 round trip per person. We never found a need to use it, but it is available. 4. One final piece of advice: when an Italian, German, or Swiss local tells you that a hike or e-bike route is "easy," take that assessment with a healthy dose of skepticism.
