I can't believe the last review is my own. This is the second visit, so at least over a year I can say the Castel is consistent - consistently excellent that is. Really hard to find any faults. The room was first rate - a suite, which provided separate and very comfortable seating and a separate bedroom, good dressing table facilities and a very good bathroom. Large terrace with seats. The style and decor of the hotel is classical Tyrolean - wood panelling, white walls, wall/ceiling paintings etc. All of which are very attractive (quality of wood carving is extraordinary). There is a large bar and seating area that is very comfortable, plenty of outside seating and beds and a large roof terrace with superb views. The food and restaurant are stars, quality of cooking is first rate and quantities, well, gluttony beckons. There is a huge variety at dinner, with a salad mixed buffet that would make a meal in itself, followed by daily varying courses of primi, secondi, main deserts and cheeses and sometimes 'chefs treats'. Variety of foods is excellent and innovative. A decent and good value wine list. The staff make the place though - everyone is very kind, helpful and friendly and put in a huge amount of work to make guests comfortable. There is adequate parking outside and a garage under the hotel. The small and attractive town is a short walk, but the walk back is steep.

There are so many hotels in the Alto Adige and Castelrotto has a good many of them. Most look pretty good too, so competition must be fierce. There are so many hotels in the Alto Adige and Castelrotto has a good many of them. Most look pretty good too, so competition must be fierce. The Castel Oswald von Wolkenstein takes things to another level though with everything just faultless. Rooms are pretty in a modern Tyrolean style, nicely decorated, clean, spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Some look south towards the incredible peak of Sciliar, while others look towards the small town of Castelrotto/Kastelreuth. Either way, they are quiet and dark at night. The roof terrace has beds and great views, while a pretty garden has sitting areas and beds. The location is good for touring or walking and has easy (but steep - on the way back) access to the town. Car parking is adequate. The star has to be the excellent restaurant, with superb dinners and breakfasts and a good wine list. The salad buffet is so large and varied, you don't really need the dinner that follows. Of course, staff make a hotel and the Castel has a great team from the owners, to the helpful receptionist and the excellent and ever-present and helpful restaurant manager. The top quality cooking is all part of the price, which is good as Castelrotto has a shortage of restaurants - not that you'd want to go out with cooking of this quality. The public rooms, bar, restaurant etc. are pretty, again, Tyrolean in style and very comfortable. Overall, an excellent experience and highly recommended. The only thing that puzzles me is how they do it all for the price.

From the initial check-in to a final farewell, the hotel is friendly and welcoming. Our comfortable room had a balcony that provided a great view of the town and the surrounding area. The downstairs bar area is first rate. A rooftop sun deck was a great place to relax and enjoy the views of the open fields and the nearby Dolomites. Daily food service included a traditional breakfast, an afternoon light snack, and a great five course dinner. We checked in on my birthday, and they helped celebrate at dinner. As we were spending time exploring the area, we did not make use of the full complement of health and wellness opportunities. Be sure to check their website to see all they offer. If we wouldn’t have had another engagement scheduled, we would have extended our stay. A true high point of our trip.

“AMAZING HOTEL ”

Wonderful hotel, we enjoyed very much our stay in hotel castel , the room was big and clean with a big balcony. The breakfast was rich and tasty. The dinner was amazing with 5 courses. Also we enjoyed very much the spa area, and the sollar roof. We will come back. We recommend highly.
