This is 1 of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. The views are breathtaking and the check in was so efficient and friendly. We received free valet parking and an amazing welcome drink and snack. The only thing to know is check out is about 8 a.m. so if you plan on leaving early to hike, dont stay here. I was disappointed in that. I had no idea and have never stayed anywhere I couldn't check out by 6.

Our family spent 4 nights in this modern hotel and it has been a superb experience. - fast and efficient check-in - modern and tastfuly designed Family room with mountain views - delicious 4 course dinner’s menu, great wine selection - attentive service (should I name two people who stood out then it would be Sandra and Amine - truly exceptional and very pleasant people to talk to) - nice wellness area - close to many hike and biking trails Schgaguler Hotel is a fabulous place, one of the best we have ever been to, strongly recommended!!!

We came back to Schgaguler Hotel in Castelrotto for the second time – this time with our whole family, and we stayed for an entire week in one of their beautiful two-story maisonette suites. From the moment we arrived, it felt like coming home. The hotel’s style is exactly what we love – a perfect balance of elegant minimalism and warm wooden tones. Every corner is thoughtfully designed, and the entire atmosphere invites you to slow down and enjoy. The bar is, without exaggeration, the most beautiful hotel bar I’ve ever seen – both in design and in spirit. Dinner is a daily highlight: fine à la carte dining with a carefully curated five-course menu in the evening. The quality of the food is outstanding, and the service is even better. A huge part of what makes Schgaguler so special is the people. Peter, Nikola, and Andrea run the bar like true artists – their cocktails are excellent, and their warmth makes every drink taste even better. Claudia and Amire make every dinner service a joy with their attention to detail and genuine kindness. And Simon at the front desk is your go-to person for unforgettable hikes and insider tips in the Dolomites. And above it all is Sandra – the heart and soul of the hotel. She’s the perfect host: warm, present, and always two steps ahead to make sure everything runs flawlessly. Schgaguler is our feel-good place. Stylish, calm, and full of soul. We’ll definitely be back – again and again. Top, top, top!

“Form over function”

I booked two rooms, a family suite and a gable suite. The family suite was great, the gable suite was not. It’s a two level room with two twin beds upstairs and a king bed downstairs — all good there. The issue was the open shower (no door) facing the stairs to the upstairs. No matter what kind of group you are sharing the space with (most likely kids), there is zero privacy. The stairs were shallow, steep and dangerous, especially for kids but really for humans of any age. The sink for this bathroom is basically in the entry of the room and is challenging to use in tandem with another person or navigate the space when someone else is using. It’s just a terrible design that necessitated people in our group showering in shifts while others waited in the lounge area of the hotel. A Gable Suite floor plan should be posted on their website and the hotel should double check that potential clients understand its design flaws. Another issue is the dinner. We elected half board. The dinner menu made no sense, paired ingredients that were comical and perplexing; risotto with candied orange, juice as a first course — yes, juice like you would have in the morning, salad swimming in yogurt, calamari with Mexican beans, green goop they said was avocado but as someone from California I can tell you it was not an avocado or avocado product. On our last night we discovered a vegetarian or pescatarian menu was possible but we would have had to give the kitchen advance notice. Wish the hotel had communicated this to me. Ok, a high point was the breakfast. Aside from the tea made with tepid water (but it’s Italy so not surprising), the offerings were plentiful and the fruit selection fantastic. The dinner desserts were also excellent (wish the pastry chef took over the savory food helm). The hotel service was also great — everyone we interacted with was helpful and friendly. The aesthetic of the place is awesome, rooms and common spaces. I would stay at Schgaguler again — with the right room and no dinners it would have been a good stay.
