My first visit to Italy was nearly 50 years ago, despite hot sunshine and a lovely beach near Rimini, my main memory is the poor quality of the food. A main course highlight I remember with a shudder was a cold fried egg, a slice of soggy cheese, and a large pickled gherkin. I vowed never to return. Lots of previous reviews stated that the food at Villa Nicolli was exceptional, so I went in with an open mind. On arrival, my wife and I were met by super-friendly and efficient staff who all appeared to have a genuine love of their job. We were quickly booked in and shown to our room on the second floor (216), which was a little on the small side but contained everything we needed with plenty of wardrobe space. The view from the balcony overlooking the vineyard and mountains was breathtaking.The only downside to the room was the shower which was quite small and there was only one plug socket in the bedroom which needed some juggling for phone charging, etc. The dining room serves a four course A la carte menu and our first night was exceptional, which happily became the norm throughout our stay. Our main courses of Lake perch with clams and veal in a blue cheese sauce were two highlights. Service was quick, efficient and nothing too much effort for the restaurant team led by Ignazio the majestic maître d'hôtel who left no detail to chance. My wife and I agreed at the end of our holiday that there was not one course over our eleven day stay that was a disappointment with no repetition on courses. Breakfast was in another dining room this time a buffet with a large selection of cold meats, cheese, fruit, pastries, and fresh baked breads. There was also on certain days a chocolate fountain and Prosecco. A second table was filled with cakes and pastries that would have put Betty's to shame. Fresh eggs cooked to your liking with bacon was a daily delight. The whole hotel was spotlessly clean including the relaxing spa and pool area which had a happy hour bar in the afternoon, where the Aperol Spritzers were a regular feature for us. No inflatables was also a nice rule. There was no issue getting a sunbed and the area had a relaxed feel. The only slight issue was there were no parasols with sunbeds and with temperatures reaching an average of 37° the shade from nearby bamboo plants came in handy. For clarity there were parasols over the poolside table and chairs but a few more for the sunbeds would be a good addition. The hotel is a short stroll of ten to fifteen minutes to the lake and Riva centre. The hotel also offers various spa treatments for guests. Overall we had a wonderful stay and would recommend the hotel to anyone.

We have recently returned from a fantastic two week holiday at the family-run Hotel Villa Nicolli. We stayed in a Junior Suite which overlooked the vineyards and had amazing views up the valley. We were welcomed on arrival by Sylvie and Fabriana, from Reception, who remembered us from our previous visit. This was quite overwhelming, but was typical of the personal attention each guest receives at this hotel. As soon as you enter the hotel you immediately feel relaxed, and there is a very special atmosphere. Every area of the hotel is kept immaculately clean. The Pool and Garden areas are wonderful and the Spa is extra special. The Maître De, Ignacio, is simply amazing. He oversees everything in the Restaurants and leads his team perfectly. I have Coeliac disease but was informed that I could order anything from the menu and they would make it gluten-free. Nothing was too much trouble for the Staff. The food itself is wonderful with a first class, four course evening meal with plenty of choice. The breakfast buffet is also fantastic again with an exceptional choice. The Maître De and his team work hard to give you an unforgettable experience and they remember the preferences of each individual guest. They are all a great asset to the hotel. The hotel itself is only a ten minute walk to the lakeside through a lovely public park. The town centre of Riva is easily accessible and has a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants. There is also a ferry terminal in the town centre where there are services to the other beautiful places around the lake. We have travelled all over the world but we must say that the family-run Hotel Villa Nicolli is first class and is an extra special place. It would be very difficult to find another hotel that is so exceptional. All the staff go out of their way to make sure that each guest's experience is memorable. We love everything about it.

We were there to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday which was made extra special by the attentive and friendly staff who went above and beyond to make our stay a week to remember. The hotel was immaculate, the facilities were excellent and the menu was delicious with something for everyone daily. We would highly recommend and we will return in the future
