We stayed here as guests of a nearby winery. The rooms were very nice, very modern and spacious. It was nice to have an enclosed shower. The beds were very comfortable. Our only complaint about the room was that it was so hot and we couldn't turn the air conditioner on. We didn't want to open the back door and let any bugs in, but it was definitely really hot in there at night. The breakfast that was included was great. The server was very nice, she prepared us some delicious fresh cut fruit each morning and got coffee right away. We also ate dinner one night and that was very good as well. Maso Franch is very convenient if you're visiting the Trento area.

This is a review of Maso Franch as a hotel (a separate review for the restaurant is in the proper section). The structure is appealingly designed and pleasantly set in Val di Cembra, a narrow valley dominated by steep vineyards (vocated, among other grapes, for the Chardonnay of some excellent Trentodoc, the local 'champagne') above the deep gorges looming on the Avisio creek. My room (a superior double) was rather bare but very clean and large, with a comfortable bed and a balcony, useful even if with no privacy. However the room is quite dark and you are very near the road - this did not bother us too much, but but don't expect total quiet in spite of being in the countryside. There is no kettle, no complimentary items (like tea/fruit, as you normally find in rooms at this price) except a bottle of water, and also absolutely nothing in the minibar (beside the water). A feature I found a little strange was the lack of a sink/tap in the toilet cubicle (which is separate from the shower room). Breakfast offers good produce hot and cold, and the personnel is very kind, but the supply of produce (e.g. tea, juices) was slightly erratic during the period of our stay (e.g. first day, two types of juice; second day, one type; third day, none. Same for tea, etc.). An aspect where I think they could definitely improve is the lack of reception service and of communication. Arrival is not smooth; you have to look for somebody on a different floor, namely the restaurant floor, competing with restauran customers for attention. And during the stay too, if you need something which normally a reception could sort out, you must instead go around and look for one of the (very kind) waiters, which may be embarassing when you are interrupting either their meal or their service. Things seem frankly a bit disorganised and in need of more management control. As an example, we were told on arrival that the hotel closes at some unspecified time in the evening (depending on when restaurant activities end) and that to enter one needs a separate key, but we could not have it because they do not have enough of them for all the guests when the hotel is full! With such great setting and structure, the experience could in my opinion be so much better with more organisation. My feeling is that they focus more on the restaurant and events part of the business than on hotel services.
