“Group trip to Montecattini.”

Stayed in Hotel Biondi on a goup trip, 20th to 27rh December. The water was constantly hot and the central heating warm. Stayed in Hotel Biondi on a goup trip, 20th to 27rh December. The water was constantly hot and the central heating warm. Food was plentiful and there were lots of choices plus an additional vegetarian menu. The rooms are a little tired but extremely clean. My only complaint is about the pillows which were awful. The hotel is about a ten minute walk from the town and closer to the spa. There is a train station with a good service. Would stay there again.

“Mediocre at best”

Stayed here as part of Newmarket holiday trip. Stayed here as part of Newmarket holiday trip. Very dated hotel (think 1970s) - reminded us of Fawlty Towers with its very own Basil!🤣 Rooms are dated but immaculately clean and comfortable- thankfully we upgraded to a balcony room and really appreciated the additional outside space. Food was a mixed bag - basic breakfast but we always managed to eat something. Didn’t like the set meal each evening with limited choice - but guess this was due to us being on a tour - start of the week the food was very poor but after several complaints the quality of food did improve. Shame that not enough fresh produce used - lots of tinned fruit, frozen fish and the only veg choice being a prepared bowl of salad to share at table and very little in the way of authentic Italian food. Luckily there are loads of excellent restaurants nearby which serve authentic fresh food (so best advice is to budget for the additional expense if you want to experience true Tuscan food and drink)

Just returned from a stay at the Biondi Hotel in Montecatini as part of a Newmarket Holidays tour, and overall it was a bit of a mixed bag. The hotel itself is quite dated and could really benefit from refurbishment. The rooms are very basic in terms of decor and facilities, though they were cleaned daily and the beds were comfortable, which made a difference after long days out. One downside was the swimming pool, which is located in a separate building and wasn’t in use during our stay — a bit disappointing if you’re expecting to make use of it. Food-wise, breakfast was good with a decent selection, and evening meals were four courses. While the dinners were generally okay, they didn’t particularly stand out. On the plus side, the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay, and the view from our room was lovely — definitely one of the highlights. The real star of the trip was the location. Montecatini is a great base for exploring Tuscany, and the excursions were well organised. In summary, if you’re booking as part of a tour and plan to spend most of your time exploring, the hotel does the job. Just don’t expect luxury.
