First time in Nagoya and this is the only IHG hotel in the city, check in was smooth and very efficient and they let me check in early as part of my membership benefit. Room is spacious by Japanese hotel standards. Not really a tourist area and you’ll have to travel by local train or by metro to get to shopping and tourist areas (around 10 minutes). But overall a very nice hotel still.

Fantastic hotel with a warm welcome and great ambiance when you enter. Great location next to the Kanayama station with good connections. Our room was great for two adults with plenty of space and incredible views of Nogya from the 17th floor. Beds are very comfortable and having a sleep program with different pillows and even teas to help you unwind after a busy day exploring was a pleasing touch.

“Business type hotel slightly away from Nagoya station.”

“Average stay due to ageing product. Staff were friendly and ever-helpful.”

An average at best stay at ANA Crowne Plaza Nagoya. Rooms were dated. But Staff were friendly and service were excellent. An average at best stay at ANA Crowne Plaza Nagoya. Rooms were dated. But Staff were friendly and service were excellent. The hotel is in a business district, about 10-15min from Nagoya station by taxi. I chose this hotel because I’m an IHG member. Admittedly, it was a marked difference from another IHG hotel in Inuyama where we were staying for the past 4 nights. Check-in was warm and friendly. The staff was efficient and ready to take us in immediately. We went up to our room on the 26th floor. Walking in, we felt that the room needed a refresh. The dark carpet and red curtains made the room gloomy. There were two easy dark red chairs beside the half height window. The chairs shared a large round table A long desk along the wall housed the fridge in the cupboards underneath. In the drawers, you’ll find the cups and spoons as well. The TV is on the table top. There’s loads of local channel and a limited few English channels. Still, managed to find some entertainment. The bed was a king and we had two large fluffy pillows each. We managed to get the room to a nice cold state eventually. Thankful for the coldness in the room for it was a hot late Japan summer. There is a closet beside the door. An old mechanical safe is housed in the shelf here. No fluffy bathrobes, but you will find thin bedroom slippers. The bathroom has separate bathtub, shower and toilet with all the usual Japanese toilet functions. The sink area is long so one can spread out your personal amenities with no problems. There is a whole lot of amenities provided by the hotel. There’s also shampoo, conditioner and body gel provided. Note that there is no moisturizer provided. Remember to bring your own! I used the gym one morning and it’s pretty small. There are three treadmills, two elliptical machines and one bike. Two benches and a rack of weights. The weights go up to 10kg. No wonder the front desk guy was sheepish about the gym and trying to manage my expectations. There’s also a microwave oven on the gym floor - the 16th floor. The hotel is very near to a plethora of food and convenience stores. There’s also a Starbucks nearby and the train station is 100m from the hotel. All things considered, the hotel was pleasant enough and I slept quite well. The staff here are professional, polite, friendly and willing to please. They helped us order a taxi for our early morning departure, were willing to try making a “bloody Mary” drink for me when they were unfamiliar with it, and made us feel welcome when we arrived. However, due to classical nature of the product, we are likely to stay at a more modern place if we are back in Nagoya.
