Just came back from a week long fabulous hotel at the Nagoya Kanko Hotel This is an old school Japanese style 4/5 stars hotel. Staff is extremely professional and courteous. Nothing is a hassle. They open doors (automatic ones, mind you), get the lift when they see you approaching...etc, all services from a bygone era. My parents stay at a Deluxe room and me at a comfort room. The Deluxe room is very large even for non-Japanese standard with a walk-in closet and seating area. It's a great deal considered what we paid. Parents are very pleased. My comfort room is your typical standard Japanese hotel room but still sizeable as per Japanese standard Breakfast is highly recommended. Spread was very decent with local delicatesse (such as homemade tofu, chicken wings and noodles). Curry rice is to die for. Location is great. Although we drive (free parking for guests) and thus did not take any public transportation, the hotel is very close to a subway station. Loads of convenient store and restaurants near by. There is also a Donki within walking distance. There is really nothing bad to say about this hotel, except, perhaps, better English skills for front desk staff Highly recommend.

“Great old-school hotel ”

Great hotel, especially if you look for a place with smoking rooms. Old school but great, very clean, nice rooms, ok breakfast. Location is really good next to Fushimi Station, bot Nagoya station side and Sakae side very close.

It was our first time in Nagoya and we spent 6 nights in this hotel after researching. We took the Especio King Room with lounge access. Room: Very spacious and large which made it really comfortable throughout our stay. A king bed with a study table and living area with sofa and coffee table, which was useful for some snacking in between. The bed was very comfortable and pillows were soft (not our type though globally preferred) and the TV was large. Curtains worked well to block out sun in the morning. The bathroom was narrow but had lots of storage space and the bath area was surprisingly large. There was a bath tub and a shower area next to each other which was great. Water pressure was very strong which I liked. Amenities provided were of good quality and the closet space was very decent. They even provide 2 different Japanese robes and a plush western robe for use as well as very comfortable room slippers. Room was perfect. Oh and it's the only hotel I've ever stayed that had a kitchenette (note, it's not a service apartment). Lounge: The lounge food and options was one of the poorest among the many hotels I went to worldwide. The spread was little and the quality was average. Even the sake provided was not good. I think they're trying but I hope they go around other international hotel lounges to learn a thing or two. Reception: We checked in at the Espacio lounge and true to Japanese culture, they were very friendly and polite. The only issue was language. They could speak minimal English and sometimes it was difficult to convey certain requests. We had to rephrase a few times before they could answer us, for example with regards to parking. However, they were also polite, helpful and tried their best as they could. Parking: The hotel provides free parking but you need to get a complimentary ticket from the reception daily. You need to pay for parking before you leave the carpark. That's where the parking coupon comes in when you pay at the machine to waive off the charges before exiting. You need to get the complimentary ticket daily because it's only valid for 24 hours. Hence if you need to do multiple entries and exits a day, you need to request for multiple tickets. The carpark lots are also a little tight but we rented a small car so it worked out well. Overall, the hotel room was perfect. However the facilities and staff's English standard requires a lot of improvement. They seem to cater more for domestic tourists rather than international tourists as we mainly saw Japanese people in the lounge & hotel grounds. We've stayed at hotels in Tokyo with lounge accesses and the staff in the main city were much more fluent in English and their lounges were way better. Nagoya Kanko Hotel, being a 5-star hotel in a city, has a lot to catch up in this aspect. However, don't get me wrong. The staff were always courteous, friendly and they seem to be trying their best. If you're not concerned about the other aspects but just the room, then I'd recommend this hotel to you.

“A charming hotel in Nagoya!”

Nagoya Kanko is a lovely old hotel exuding old world charm. The room was nice and big, and well-appointed, with friendly staff. From the airport you will be taking the Mitetsu line to reach Nagoya station. Come out to Mitetsu exit, walk right till you are at Mitetsu building, with your back to the building, cross the road, you will see the spiral building in front. Walk along that road with the spiral building on your right. A straight walk for about 15 minutes will bring you to the Kanko hotel. Or take the subway to Fushimi station, and walk to the hotel in under 3 minutes. Staff are friendly, the hotel has some nice restaurants too. It’s close to some of the local attractions like science museum. There’s a local cafe that gives free breakfast when you order coffee, do note there will a queue.
