“Great stay at the Strings Hotel!”

Very nice stay! The staff was kind and the breakfast was so delicious! They had both western and Japanese breakfast options. They also have tea time, which we did not go to but looked very nice. The hotel is very close to the train station and bus stops around the center of the city.

We stayed at this hotel during our trip to Nagoya, Japan. It’s a very nice hotel — the rooms were clean, and the breakfast was excellent. We really enjoyed our stay. However, after we checked out, my mom realized she had left two pairs of shoes in the room — one brand new and one used. They were placed side by side in the same spot. When we emailed the hotel to inquire, we were told that only the used pair had been found, and the brand new pair was never seen. We asked the hotel staff to double-check, since both pairs were left together. To their credit, the staff did check again, but came back with the same answer. I’m grateful that we were able to recover one pair, but it’s strange that the new pair disappeared. When I went to pick up the shoes, I asked to speak with the hotel manager about the situation — just in case others might forget items in the future. The receptionist was polite and went into the back office. She returned to ask why I wanted to speak to the manager, then went back again. In the end, she told me the manager went outside, not in office. So here’s my rating: ★ One star for the great breakfast ★ One star for the clean room ★ One star for finding the used shoes ☆ One star deducted for the missing new shoes ☆ One star deducted for the too busy to hear customer’s voice manager

“You get what you paid for?”

Stayed for one night because my son, an avid Pokémon fan, wanted to visit the Pokémon Store in Nagoya. The hotel lobby is on fourth floor.  Parking is on site. There's a beautiful church built for weddings. Perfect for Instagrammers. The regular rooms are small though - no space to keep an open suitcase. Location-wise, it's not the busiest district. Across the road there's a nice mall with some good restaurants. When we checked in, the guy asked for our passports. He photocopied the passports and handed me the room key in silence. Since we're a family of four, I double-checked with him if the key belonged to a bigger room I booked. So - the second sentence he spoke to me was - yes, it's the correct key to the regular twin room you booked. I almost missed that mumbled sentence and almost went away with the "yes". I asked again and he insisted I booked a regular room. I then showed him my email confirmation from Agoda. He tapped on the computer for minutes and then told me the bigger room was sold out and the regular room would fit us. Now wait a minute - what happened to the room I paid for ? He then tried to convince us to go up to the room and wait to see if they can do anything.  Hmmm why don't I wait here? He then reluctantly got his supervisor. After the same song and dance again, the supervisor finally understood we did need the room we paid for. We then sat at the lobby for a good 15 minutes and listened to the supervisor yell at their agent (another company,  not Agoda). Finally he gave us two small rooms. It wasn't a good arrangement for us - my husband had to go back & forth across the corridor for toiletries, supplies,  etc. Oh well.
