Excellent location, walking distance to railway station and directly across from Canal City, with 250 shops/restaurants. Stylishly appointed hotel; we booked a riverside king size bed room which had large windows and included a small table and 2 chairs, cupboard and safe located in the foyer and good sized bathroom. Free tea and coffee and generous supply of toiletries including bath salts (which you picked up from reception). Breakfast included in the price was a delicious bento box, which you could pick up from reception from 7am. Although no restaurant on site, room service was available from the bar adjacent downstairs (which made great cocktails); there was also a wine bar adjacent downstairs, lovely to sit and watch the changing colours of the river. Our floor included an outside terrace. Staff were lovely; we had forwarded our luggage and it was waiting for us in our room; they also assisted in forwarding our luggage to the next destination - price for this service was excellent. We stayed 4 days and loved coming back to this hotel after a day exploring. Being well constructed, it was quiet, ensuring a restful stay.

“Good location with a view”

Candeo Hotel is located right along the river so you get a great view of it in your room. It was also the most spacious room of our Japan trip. The staff was very nice- we needed a way to get to the ferry dock in the morning and they were kind enough to reserve a cab for us with a discounted price.

Great location is #1 thing with this hotel. Canal City was actually right outside our room window across the canal. You can see the yatai stands that setup for tourist trade across the canal too. Great location is #1 thing with this hotel. Canal City was actually right outside our room window across the canal. You can see the yatai stands that setup for tourist trade across the canal too. Front desk staff very helpful in recommending restaurants that are great, and can use the maps to direct you there easily. Rooms are enormous for a Japan hotel, and had plenty of space to spread out, more of a suite than just a room.

“A view but no food”

A river view and a reasonable size room were the pluses. However we arrived at 745pm, exhausted after a flight from Tokyo. A river view and a reasonable size room were the pluses. However we arrived at 745pm, exhausted after a flight from Tokyo. Desperate for some good Japanese food, I asked the receptionist if she could ring up an eel restaurant I had read about. Unfortunately she found out that the eel had sold out. So I asked for a few other suggestions. What kind of restaurant I was asked - I mentioned yakitori, izayaka, tempura - in fact I would have been happy with any recommendation. However, after 2 phone calls, the receptionist could not come up with anything, except walk out the door and see if we could find something open nearby ! Not good enough I'm afraid. We went back to our room somewhat despondent. Then I saw a Hyatt hotel across the other side of the river, and a short taxi ride later, we dined at the Hyatt. The food was superb. I think the Hakata Terrace hotel needs to comply a list of recommended restaurants in the vicinity. Not too much to ask.
