“Superb design”

I like good design so I just had to stay at Il Palazzo at the end of my two week trip to Kyushu. It’s stunning. The attention to detail throughout was remarkable. I like good design so I just had to stay at Il Palazzo at the end of my two week trip to Kyushu. It’s stunning. The attention to detail throughout was remarkable. My room was spacious and comfortable, with pretty much everything I might need. The staff were attentive and polite. Just one complaint - buffet lunch and dinner, which was included in the rate. It was essentially the same food, and none of it was Japanese. The desserts were pretty good, but otherwise it was a fairly limited, snacky international buffet. It could be so much better. My advice would be to have lunch at the hotel when you check in, but go out for dinner. No surprise it was busy at lunchtime and quiet in the evening. Breakfast was a different story, with a good selection of what you might expect.

This was hands down the most interesting hotel experience I've ever had. The setting and interior design are delightfully unusual—like stepping into a stylish little adventure. The room itself exceeded expectations: clean, modern, and super comfy. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly, adding to the warm vibe. The all-you-can-eat concept? So fun—and it works! Breakfast, lunch, and afternoon tea were all excellent. This hidden gem in Fukuoka is perfect for travelers who crave something a little different. Highly recommended if you're ready to add a spark of adventure to your stay.

Fantastic hotel.. The building itself is unique, even the entrance is quirky - a subterranean corridor lit in blue that leads you (by lift) to the main lobby in the basement. That’s where the lounge, bar and restaurant are, and you feel cocooned in a beautifully designed world where great food is available on tap. We came to Fukuoka for the sumo tournament which was an easy 25-minute stroll away along the river. The room was very comfortable, a great bed and bedding, lots of room (for Japan), lovely bathtub and nice touches, including air purifier. Three meals a day were included in our rate and the food - buffet style - was first class. It was more Western than Japanese but the high quality made up for that. It looked like the locals were patronising the restaurant, especially for the incredible array of desserts. Great drinks set up too - a wine or beer buffet for JPY2,100 for two hours so you could help yourself. It was a pretty good selection of mainly Italian and Australian wines. Staff were friendly and helpful with good English.

We chose this hotel because we stayed at one of the company’s other hotels, The Knot in Hiroshima, and had such a wonderful experience; their staffer Charlie recommended we stay at Il Palazzo and we were grateful he did. While The Knot has everything fun on the top floor, this hotel has everything fun on B1. And given some of the 4-star rated hotels we’ve stayed in, this I consider a 5-star. The hotel is in a great location with so much nearby. We came to see the Sumo tournament. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are big, super comfortable and with a phenomenal tub and western bed!! But the best part was honestly the staff. Our room included complimentary breakfast, lunch and dinner and there we met to Mr. Tomoyuki Kuwata (Tomosan) who was incredibly kind and helpful! Serrah and the other staff (I’m sorry not to remember their names) were always smiling and asking to help.
