“Lovely experience”

This was my first experience at a Ryokan. I would only recommend that you book here if you speak Japanese. I don't, but my brother does, and he had to translate everything for me. If you don't speak Japanese, it might be difficult. The room was large with a separate sitting area for enjoying th… more

  • Yes, the Yamaneya Ryokan has Parking.
  • Yes, guests at Yamaneya Ryokan have highlighted that: This was my first experience at a Ryokan. I would only recommend that you book here if you speak Japanese. I don't, but my brother does, and he had to translate everything for me. If you don't speak Japanese, it might be difficult. The room was large with a separate sitting area for enjoying the river. There were six futons available, so I admit to 'doubling up', since I am not used to sleeping on such a firm surface. Soft beds make soft bodies, so that makes me soft. The meals were huge. Seriously, I think they tried to kill us with food. I don't know how other guests were able to finish their meals. Even after starving myself the second day, and climbing Mt Bandai in preparation, I still was stuffed to the gills and could barely move, after dinner. The service was excellent, and the Onsen was lovely. They switch out the men's and women's baths each day, so you can experience both. They have both a natural hot spring bath (outside) as well as an indoor bath. If Google Translate is working correctly, one of the earlier reviews stated that they don't have soap? When I was there, they had all the amenities for cleaning yourself, such as body soap, shampoo, conditioner, foot scrub, etc. There were some things I didn't recognize, but one I found to be a foundation after trying it (not my skin tone). The fragrances are pretty strong in all the personal care products that I tried in Japan, so I bring my own.
