Decided to do a stopover in Gero before heading on and I must say we were glad that we did. Arrived in the late afternoon and had to park a slight distance away as there were no parking lots available. A hotel staff drives a minivan to show you to the parking lot which is about 3 minutes away and fetches you back. Likewise on your check out. Rooms were a little old but they very clean and the amenities provided from futons, yutakas to toiletries were more than comfortable and sufficient. Dinner and breakfast was buffet style and the variety and quality was good ... not the best but definitely great value considering the price of a night's stay. The indoor and outdoor onsens was pretty decent and interestingly despite the size of the hotel, there were hardly any patrons during my visits. As Gero is an Onsen town, I suspect may visitors use the Onsen pass to visit the famous ones or enjoy the many footbaths as the hotel was never really crowded. What stood out at this hotel were the staff, whether it was a driver, a receptionist or restaurant worker, everyone was pleasant, courteous and always smiling which made us feel very welcome. We will certainly be returning should we visit Nagoya again.

Bit moldy on the walls, though. The breakfast and dinner were in bufet style, so basically "all you can eat". Lots of foods to choose from, from Japanese to "Western" and fusion.

The hotel room is quite delicate but old in some way; it may burst out some sounds at night that makes timid people (like me) feel scared. The public hot spring is open during 2:00 am to 1:00 am of the other day. The quality of hot spring is quite good to remove the old skin off the body and to make the skin smoother. The breakfast buffet is okay, but don't expect the dinner buffet. There are a lot of dishes but most of them were not so outstanding as its hot spring quality.

“Great fun onsen hotel for pre-wedding group!”

I visited this hotel in the onsen town of Gero with a group of about 20. We were a party from England there before our friend's wedding, along with his Japanese wife-to-be and her parents. We had a great time. The rooms were fine although not luxurious. The food was generally nice enough but again nothing special, and some of it was really not great. The offer of all you can drink for 1,500 yen at dinner time was a good deal. The outdoor onsen is not large but was fine for all of us to fit in and to enjoy it comfortably. The indoor onsen is larger and has a sauna and steam room - very comfortable. The vending machines have a good selections of drinks and even some tasty hot food (fried chicken and chips). The games room available is adequate, and the karaoke rooms are great! We had a fantastic evening here. They have a good selection of English songs as well as Japanese songs. The location of the hotel is very close to the centre of town and so it's easy to get out and visit shops, bars, etc. in town. While being FAR from luxurious in any way, the hotel was a lot of fun in a big group and I would return in that group, though probably not in a smaller party, and certainly not as a couple as I would want something nicer as a couple.
