This onsen is nicknamed "Hoshi," and is said to have been discovered by Kobo Daishi, an important historical figure in Japanese Buddhism. Then take the bus to Hoshi Onsen (about 15 minutes). About 1 minute on foot from there. By car: Exit the Kan-etsu Expressway at Tsukiyono IC and continue along Route 17 for about 40 minutes (25 km). Turn left at Fukuro.

Nice rooms, good country location, excellent kaiseki dinners. Staff were helpful.
