-the hotel was chosen due to its marketing for skiing/snowboarding. -Its a 5-8mins drive (or taxi ride) from the JR station. -the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. -The Superior room I stayed in was spacious. - The facilities of the spa are very similar to what I experienced in europe, having a warm jacuzzi, sauna, lying down hot tub, a walking pool of body temperature, and a cold water pool. - the waxing station is a highlight for skiers/snowboarders. There is a heated iron and all kinds of waxes. It's particularly attractive as I could not find waxing shops in the town (some ski resorts did provide waxing service). - There is ski rental in the hotel but mostly powder skis (ski rental was found from an upstairs shop cum guest house within 5-8 mins walking distance). - The hotel promoted free shuttle buses to 4 ski resorts. In fact the buses are local buses, while the hotel provided coupons to guests who had made reservations. So these buses were not direct buses between the hotel and ski resorts. So in fact thats was not what i expected from the marketing material. That said, the travelling time was a bit long but it did post in writing and we thought the travelling time was acceptable. -I have not tried the meals, but my friends who booked the breakfast package said the breakfast was very good. - About room cleaning, garbage would be taken away and new towels provided every day, but tidying would be done on Day 4 and Day 7. - The staff were super helpful. Due to some misunderstanding I had not picked up my skis in the hotel. I only discovered the problem when I arrived at another hotel for my second part of the journey. They then very kindly helped to dispatch the skis via courier. During the course they had communicated with me over the phone (i am not a local and we talked in english) and by email. When I tried to thank them by writing to their management, the staff refused politely saying they were happy to offer help.

“Hip place to stay in Asahikawa”

Very hip place for those interested in skiing. Slightly different from typical Japan hotels but still had great hospitality. Hotel is famous for its direct transport to Asahiyama Zoo and you can even buy tickets from the lobby. Breakfast is nice with many variety. Location wise is great.

This trip I stayed with the hotels within Hoshino resorts multiple times. OMO7 Asahikawa is so far best among those because of the room design and breakfast provided. However I was really concerned about the hygienic situation in this OMO7. The glass in my room was used before I checked in. I was extremely disappointed as this should not happened in Hoshino resorts. I am really hesitate to visit Hoshino resorts again. Similar to other OMO hotels the drinking water machines were located in specific floor only and it is inconvenience to the customers. Can drinking water machines provide in each floor?

“No Parking on property!”

We stayed 2 nights during the road trip to Hookkaido. 1. Ground It was renovated OLD hotel. Lobby was renovated, but room (except for decor), bathroom was VERY OLD. It was spooky when I get off at level 2 for coin laundry it was back in time capsule for 80s. Old, stained peeled wall paper and everything was there untouched. 2. Room We got Shirokuma (Polar bear) room. Has tons of Polar bear decor and kids were happy. Room was spacious, has nice views of Asahikawa. But bathroom was unbelievably old. 3. Breakfast: There was no donuts like the one from web sites. Bread was good, but there's nothing much to eat. I know it's cater mostly for foreigners but I'm quite surprised there was no green tea at breakfast buffet. 4. Parking: THIS IS THE BIGGEST ISSUE. It seems like this hotel USED to have tower parking attached, but probably too old to maintain, there's NO PARKING on site. You'd either park behind the building per hour (no in-out privilege, once you are out, you have to pay per hour), and if that gets full (in my case, it gets full), you'll have to drive around the area to find other contracted parking nearby. I had to park across the main street to park which was VERY inconvenient, can't believe there's no parking in Hokkaido. Overall: Polar bear room was cute, but location is off center and it's not convenient location at all. We had to drive everywhere, and every time I moved out from parking, I have another anxiety looking for parking nearby. I hated it. They don't even give you bottle water in room. You have to bring small plastic pitcher in room to go get it from 2nd floor by laundry room. I also stayed at Hoshino Tomamu Resort. It was even worst. Hoshino resort is just managing but actual owner is Chinese company. Cutting on small expenses here and there and I can clearly see it.
