With only one night in Hakodate, I decided that I would rather spend time exploring the city than waste it getting to/from our accommodation and the station. And with a prime position atop the Hakodate JR station rail tracks, this hotel’s location is hard to beat. Staff stored our bags before we checked in and after we checked out, allowing us to maximise exploration time. The bus station is next to the train station and there is a tram stop nearby too. Additionally, the morning market is opposite the hotel, across the public parking lot, and the historic warehouse district is only about a 10-15 min walk away. The triple room accommodated us and our luggage quite comfortably, though thoroughfares were quite narrow, with only one person being able to pass through at a time. The toilet was in a completely self-contained room, allowing for greater flexibility. The toiletries provided in the bathroom smelled pleasant, and apparently contained royal jelly. As with all the hotels we’ve stayed at in Japan, hooks and towel rails were non-existent in the bathroom. However, the water was hot and the pressure was good and steady, and the towels were soft and fluffy. My husband found the light above the sink not very suitable for shaving, though. The beds were very firm, and I ended up with a sore neck in the morning. If we’d been staying another night, I would have tried to get a buckwheat pillow from the range of pillows available in the reception area - these were almost all gone by the time we returned from dinner. My husband and Master 12 took advantage of the public bath on the 12th floor. You are allowed to wear the yukata/dressing gown and room slippers there from your room. The water was apparently hot enough, but if you prefer a very hot bath, it may be better to run one in the tub in your room instead. The lounge on the 12th floor offers free water, coffee and green tea, and great views over the train tracks and the surrounding landscape. A breakfast buffet is available for 2600 yen, which may be a good option for big eaters. While there is the morning market opposite the hotel, the food stalls seem to offer mainly seafood based rice bowls, with small bowls costing about 1000 yen, and regular sized ones over 2200 yen, with most appearing to contain salmon roe and sea urchin. Crab is also available at the market, but is correspondingly also more expensive.

“a good stay for us!”

We booked a 2-night stay with the SG agent H.I.S, very good choice as it is just 5 mins next to Hakodate JR Station. We alighted from the A/P and took a quick 20 mins 340 Yen to the bus terminal which is again within 5 mins to the hotel. Average room size as other hotels around that price range. … more

We booked a 2-night stay with the SG agent H.I.S, very good choice as it is just 5 mins next to Hakodate JR Station. We alighted from the A/P and took a quick 20 mins 340 Yen to the bus terminal which is again within 5 mins to the hotel. Average room size as other hotels around that price range. Basic amenities available (no welcome drink bottle though) and adequate room size (juz enough to open 2 large luggage). Can collect some toiletries at Level 1, a trend after post-Covid. Loved that there’s a public bath and a common area with vending and washing machines at Level 2. At the L12 public bath area there is a small library and a relaxing lounge where one can gaze out to the horizon for a good view of the habour area. The room view was also great with part of the Bay area and mountainous backdrop just make it a plus when one woke in the morning! I find the pillow corner not attractive to me, the 2 units at the bed is good enough! We did not order bf as there are plenty fresh seafood from the Market side just X-road. Another plus-point it is near to the Bay area and we actually strolled for 30 mins from the Kanemori red brick building! On the last date we only took quick walk with luggage and we reached the JR, enroute to Sapporo. Recommended.

The hotel has an excellent location, adjacent to the Hakodate train station. It has easy access to the bus and taxi. The Hakodate Seafood Morning Market is right across the parking lot fronting the hotel. Most restaurants there close by 2:30pm. The room is small but comfortable and with a nice view of the sea. Basic amenities are provided and extra pillows and amenities are provided at the hotel lobby. The bed and pillows are very comfortable. The buffet breakfast is super delicious with fresh seafood galore and many choices. There are convenience stores, (e.g., 7-11), restaurants and small shops at the train station where you can get your supplies and food. Hotel staff are friendly, courteous, and helpful.

The hotel is right next to Hakodate Train Station. Therefore, it's very convenient to travel around either using local buses, trams or taxi. The morning seafood market just across the road. The hotel is quiet and cozy. You can select your pillow upon check-in, this pillow selection section will be closed after that. The staff are polite and friendly. The twin room is not huge, so for those who bring along large luggages highly recommended to book a bigger room. The view is beautify at the top floor lounge area, complimentry tea and coffee are available. Seating area are limited though.
