The hotel is located near to the Jujigai Tram station, need to walk around 5 mins after alighting. After alighting from the JR train, walk around 5 mins that involves crossing the road to get to the Hakodate Eki-mae station to take the tram. Ride is around 5 mins. However, do note that due to the tram track in the road, there might be some difficulty in moving the luggage so it slows down the travelling abit. Stayed 2 nights. Room size is around 27m2 however the room shape is abit irregular but there’s still ample space to move around after opening 2 luggages. There’s even a sofa and a rectangular coffee table. Hotel staff is also helpful when we asked for suggestions for a late lunch. However, we noticed they speak little English. At 3-9 pm every day, there’s also a little corner set up near the reception table with rice crackers, sweets, snacks, hot coffee, cold drinks for occupants to enjoy. In front of the reception is also a cozy lounge with books, CDs and some information/ guides and seating area. Amenities such as toothbrush, comb, cotton pads, coffee and tea are also available inside the room. The hotel also provides shampoo, conditioner and body wash. There’s also shower cap and hair tie for those who need it near the lift area at level 1. Room comes with a TV and a CD player. However, do note the washroom is abit elevated and is the typical Japanese style where it comes with a shower area inside the bath tub. I think housekeeping is not available daily if stays are less than 4 nights. However, the hotel staff will leave a basket with clean towels, hand towels and floor mats, mineral water bottles and clean plastic for the bin outside the door on a daily basis. You can leave the used towels outside the door for them to collect. From my room, I was also able to get a view of Mount Hakodate. The ropeway to Mount Hakodate was closed during our stay but the staff are very helpful when we asked for alternative methods to get there. They pointed us to take a bus up. In summary, it is a comfortable and cozy hotel to stay for a few nights. There are also restaurants and 7-11 within walking distance. However, I noticed the restaurants tend to close for a few hours after lunch hours around 2 plus before reopening for dinner. I came in Autumn and at 7 plus some restaurants are also already closed.

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at La Jolie Motomachi. We had a very comfortable and spacious room on an upper floor. We used the washing machine available for guest use without any problems. My wife and I had a wonderful stay at La Jolie Motomachi. We had a very comfortable and spacious room on an upper floor. We used the washing machine available for guest use without any problems. The staff was always very friendly, kind and helpful. The breakfast voucher took us to a nearby small restaurant where we were given a huge, tasty breakfast. The hotel location is quite good, with easy access to the tram line, easy walking distance to several of the sights in the Motomachi district and either a short walk or tram ride to restaurants.

This was our first stop after leaving Tokyo. Like a lot of Hakodate, the opening of the Hokkaido shinkansen seems to have taken something of the former life of this former port of entry to Hokkaido. That said the hotel staff couldn't have been more helpful arranging a tour onto Mt Hakodate as the ropeway was closed for annual maintenance and arranging taxis etc the next morning. The hotel is close to the Red Brick Warehouse district with a number of good eating options. We discovered the next day that the area around the station also has good food options. The room was relatively small compared to others on our stay but clean and comfortable. The hotel is also ideally located for access to the main sights sitting on the intersection of the two tram route. We’d stay again.
