This Hotel punches well above it weight. with a bath house in the Basement, great for relaxing before Dinner on the top floor, which is also the breakfast room, as an Englishman I was pleased that as well as Japanese Food you could have a French Style Breakfast. I do enjoy Japanese Food, but not at breakfast time... My Reason for picking this hotel it's close to the JR Station and Bus terminal...

“Aging gracefully in an excellent location”

We booked this room about 3.5 months in advance of our stay and had little choice in the matter, as all triple rooms in hotels near the station were booked out for our travel dates. Somehow or other, the 3 of us and our luggage for a one month trip to Japan (2 large suitcases, 2 carry ons, and 2 daypacks) fit into a twin room here. It was a bit of a squeeze, but we made it work, with some juggling and shuffling about, a dash of good humour, and a can-do/make-do approach. The bathroom, while small, has all the basic necessities, including shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The water pressure in the shower was good, but the temperature was highly variable from one moment to the next. Additional toiletries (e.g. shower cap, bath sponge, razors, etc) can be collected as required from the hotel lobby. Ventilation was poor, and we left the door slightly ajar when someone was in the shower, to minimise condensation on the mirror, though this was impossible to avoid. We had no problems with the air conditioning (you can adjust the temperature and settings), and the air purifier was put to good use when smoke from another room infiltrated our room from the corridor one night. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet, which offers a range of Japanese, East Asian and Western-style options. It’s all-you-can eat and is excellent value, and was the highlight of our stay at the hotel. The staff at the front desk did not speak much English, but it was more than my Japanese! Fortunately my husband speaks some Japanese, though he claims it’s very broken. Otherwise Google translate, an old phrase book, and hand gestures would likely have been the way to go. The staff kindly stored our luggage when we arrived before our check-in time. When our train to Sapporo was unexpectedly cancelled due to floods affecting the Onbetsu region, they kindly allowed us to store our luggage with them again, even though we had already checked out earlier that morning. Overall, the room and what we saw of the hotel beyond the foyer gave the impression of a place that was past its prime, but aging gracefully. It could do with a complete renovation/refurbishment, but it was otherwise comfortable enough for a short stay. It is not too far from the downtown area, and its location opposite the train station and bus terminal is truly hard to beat.

We booked here for convenience from the train and bus stations as it is just across the street. We arrived by train from Sapporo. We booked here for convenience from the train and bus stations as it is just across the street. We arrived by train from Sapporo. Since the hotel, train, and bus station are across the street from each other it was a good location from which to visit the Tsurui crane reserve by bus. After the visit we took the air bus shuttle to the airport; also convenient. The room was a little dated and dull although larger than most rooms in Japan. The restaurant on the top floor offered a nice view of the city but the food was just average. It was clean. The climate control was complicated.

“An average stay, note: hotel is under renovation”

I’ll admit I was extremely shocked when I arrived in early August 2018. The hotel’s exterior has under renovation and there was little signage to guide us to the hotel – the entire building was covered up in scaffolding and we thought it was the construction site of an incomplete building! (See attached image) Fortunately, I walked into the ground floor carpark and a security guard was able to get me in through the backdoor. The rooms were tight, I stayed with a family member in a twin room. Don’t expect much in terms of amenities, you get what you pay for. Breakfast however was not too bad, it comes with the hotel stay and was quite alright. The location is excellent however, being less than 3 minutes to the Kushiro Station. Don't be shocked when you miss the building!
