Such a special and unique experience having two nights in this ryokan style accommodation. Right from our warm arrival welcome, where shoes came off at reception and Japanese wooden sandals or socks were offered, we stepped into the traditional world of Japanese cultural immersion. Our large room initally appeared spartan with tatami mat floors and low central table with legless chairs, but we discovered it included all modern amenities of electric jug, microwave, tv etc. Our outlook was over a beautiful central courtyard garden with a koi filled pond - all so relaxing and peaceful. The hotel featured its own Onsen - a hot springs soaking pools, both indoors and outside, segregated by sex in accordance with Japanese tradition. We were provided with traditional Japanese yukata (cotton kimono wraps) to wear both within the accommodation and whilst walking around the small township of Kinosaki (which all visitors appeared to be doing). The highlight each morning was being seated in our own private dining room with personal attendant, and being treated to a traditional Japanese breakfast with so many choices to sample and taste. I have to also mention the incredible service of all staff, particularly the reception staff. I left a bathing suit behind (stupidly left with the hotel towel after visiting the nearby beach location of Takenohama) and phoned the ryokan from Hiroshima wondering if they had found it. Twenty four hours later it was located and staff arranged for it to be sent to our final Japanese hotel location for collection - all at no expense to myself. That highlighted the high level of service and attention we received throughout our wonderful stay. We will return.

“Calm stay in Kinosaki”

Came here as a solo guest, this town is known for being tattoo friendly! I used the onsen here quite a few times, and loved that it had a cold plunge tub as the public onsen available in the town don't have a cold bath. It really helped with regulating temperature. I some time learning a bit of Japanese before this trip and I'm glad that it paid off as I could communicate with staff a bit better than if I had no Japanese skills. I can't remember her name, but the room attendant who was assigned to me for breakfast and dinner was very sweet and kind. The food was incredible, well presented and delicious. I came around the time of the year where snow crabs were being served which was a great treat! There's a shuttle bus that goes around town and if you're a bit tired from walking around in geta, it's easy to call the ryokan to send a shuttle bus to pick you up from specific spots. It's a bit further out compared to the other ryokan but I think I enjoyed that. It was such a calm and peaceful stay. I ended up waking early one morning to see one of the staff feeding the fish in the koi pond which was really nice.

“Great experience ”

Our stay in this ryokan was the ultimatum experience and a great finish of our Journey. Great diner and breakfast, very nice rooms. The onsen is functional and relaxing. Staff and oersonnel very friendly. Free transport to and from the station
