Quiet, clean and convenient location in the Eastern part of Tokyo city. We arrived early and the staff were amazing in allowing us to access our room, a kind gesture after a night long journey!! The hotel is near a Tokyo metro line giving easy access to other parts of the city and to Tokyo station for your Shinkansen trips! The hotel also offers a shuttle to the nearest station (Toyocho) and as a Disney good neighbour, a shuttle to and from Tokyo Disney Resort- a much appreciated service after a long and fun filled day. Loved the breakfast, beds were comfortable and we could fit 2 adults and 2 teenagers into our room without feeling too cramped. Staff very friendly and helpful. Thanks again for a wonderful stay Hotel 21 East!!!

“Wonderful hotel”

This hotel was very comfortable and a great base for exploring Tokyo. Great views of Skytree. The staff were extremely helpful. Rooms well-equipped. Handy for transport. Excellent location. Lots of great noodle places nearby. We very much enjoyed our stay at this wonderful hotel.

“A Truly Magical Experience; Will Definitely Be Back In The Future”

Last month, I embarked with my family to my first ever trip to Japan and stayed at Hotel East 21. We had 2 rooms, one for my mommy and daddy, the other for myself and my younger brother. For a first time visitor to Japan, this hotel exceeded many of my expectations. On a scale of 1 to 5 stars, I give this hotel 4.5 out of 5 stars. So why does the hotel get 4.5 stars and not 5 stars? Well, here are the pros and cons I experienced while staying here: Here are the pros: 1. The hotel is pretty spacious. The rooms are bigger than many hotels in Japan. Contrary to many hotel lobbies in Japan, the lobby here is huge and has a high ceiling. Our room had a very nice view of Oshiage and the Tokyo Skytree. 2. The staff are very polite and friendly. Most of the staff, if not all of them, speak pretty good English. They were very patient and kind even when I was struggling to practice speaking Japanese when asking them to clean my room, until I finally said "お 掃除 に まり ました (O-Soji ni Mairi Mashita)", in which they said "はい (hai)", which means "Yes" in Japanese. 3. There are many great restaurants nearby. Surrounding the hotel is the East 21 Mall, filled with many different eateries of all kinds. Also, down the street towards Toyocho station is also filled with many different cafes and restaurants, including my favorite Gyudon chains, both Matsuya and Sukiya. 4. The breakfast was very tasty (美味しい [Oi shi]) and went beyond my expectations. They had a wide variety of different dishes, from fried vegetables that tasted like tempura, to salmon, to salad, to porridge, to my favorite pots of miso soup and fruits. As Asia is often much less aware of allergies than America is, they went above and beyond with even listing the allergens in each food! 5. A bonus big pro if you love Disney like I do: The hotel is a good neighbor hotel to the Tokyo Disney Resort and offers a free shuttle there. My family and I had a very pleasant ride from the hotel to Tokyo DisneySea. The shuttle makes stops at both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea! Now onto the cons. Honestly, there aren't that many I can think of: 1. Like many hotels in Japan, this hotel is quite outdated, especially on the guest room floors. I feel a renovation can make this hotel shine even more. 2. The hotel is a 10-15 minute walk away from Toyocho Station, the nearest station to the hotel. The walk can seem long and tiring, especially if you coming from the airport with many luggages. 3. The hotel is not centrally located, as it is well east of the central parts of Tokyo. As a result, you will need to take the Tozai Line west to reach many of Tokyo's most popular areas, including Tokyo Station, Shinjuku, Shibuya, and Akihabara. Toyocho and the surrounding area near Hotel East 21 are all pretty quiet at night and consist of more locals than tourists. If you want to stay in the hustle and bustle part of Tokyo where many tourists go, this hotel is definitely not for you. But if you don't mind the train ride and quietness of Toyocho like I do, then this may be a pro. To close things up, this sums up why I feel Hotel East 21 deserves a solid 4.5-star rating from me. Although there were a few cons such as the outdatedness, the excellent breakfast, the spacious room, and the free hotel shuttle to the Tokyo Disney Resort made my stay truly magical! If you love Disney like me and would like to stay close to the Tokyo Disney Resort, don't mind having to take the train to central Tokyo, have allergies like me, or all of the above, I strongly recommend staying at this hotel when you make your trip to Japan! Magical job well done Hotel East 21! In the future, I will definitely be back with my future family!

This was our first stop in Tokyo. For anyone travellling to Japan make sure you read the room sizes and really understand how small the space will be. This room was one of the bigger rooms we stayed in but still very cramped for 2 people in a double. The bed was not very comfortable and the pillows were incredibly average. The price is slightly reflective of what to expect. If you booked here for the gym, pool or to experience the onson don’t bother. You can’t use the gym or onson if you have tattooes not even if they’re covered and you have to book and pay for the use of the gym and it isn’t cheap! The pools are pretty much closed and don’t seem to be heated but also no tattooes. As someone with tattooes who books hotels with gyms for a reason this was a huge let down but it was consistent across all of Japan so it’s something you need to accept. The only hotel food we has was breakfast on our last day and it was a huge letdown. $30 per person and most of it was cold from being out on the beach and lacked flavour. I recommend saving your money and going to any local place where the food is absolutely amazing. The staff were kind, helpful and friendly. I recommend the stay for a single person who isn’t fussed on working out and using the gym but if I went back I’d spend the extra each night for a larger space.
