This hotel was definitely a unique experience. Very nice and clean hotel. Peaceful and serene. The hotel staff were very professional and made you feel like royalty. I stayed here for business but I would definitely recommend it as a romantic hotel for couples. The rooms are larger than others in the area and the view of the ocean is very nice too. Also, I really enjoyed the food selections each morning and the small bar near the lobby. There are several restaurants in the area that you can walk to as well. On a clear day, you can see Mount Fiji!

The Breath hotel is one of the best places I've stayed, period. It's a modest sized building across the road from the ocean, and the staff were very much part of the hotel concept -- the concept being "relax, you're in a lovely, modern place that's hell-bent on you enjoying yourself." Check-in included choosing from a variety of high end brands of shampoo/spa amenities, including bath salts from around the world. My stay included breakfast (served in-room), So we scheduled the type of breakfast and the time. When checked in, they provided a complimentary welcome drink -- I opted for a Kirin. I was guided to my room, which was large by JP standards. Along with a huge and comfortable king sized bed, the room was jam-packed with amenities and cool gizmos. I couldn't figure out some of them... I think one was a spa-level air filtration system, another an air ionizer, a third a cassette-based fragrance emitter, and there was even a relaxation star projector thingy that shined on the ceiling! Plus a Keurig coffee maker with coffee and tea pods, Bose stereo, Blu-ray player -- and they brought in a shiny toaster along with breakfast in the morning. The bathroom was spectacular, with a separate door-separated room with a big jacuzzi tub with a TV(!), steam sauna generator, and various showers and spigots all over the place. The main section of the bathroom had a sink with tons more complimentary amenities (creams, soaps, even contact lens solution and "relaxation compression socks!" The toilet, in a separate cubby, was a deluxe washlet that sensed your presence and raised the lid for you. I'm not making this up. The next day, on check-out, they drove me to the nearby Shonankaigankoen station, bowing me out of the place, holding umbrellas in the rain. ~$150 for the night. This is an amazingly low price for the experience. Definitely recommended if you're visiting Kamakura or the region.

Time travel back to an era where urbane hospitality reigns while you simultaneously travel to the future of spas and toilets! Anyone who complains about the size of the rooms isn't well versed in Japan. These rooms are very generous, with ocean views; though there are buffering dunes to protect. (It's not Miami, get over it). Sad how most tour groups go to Kamakura and never get to the gorgeous Shonan coast, where surfing took root /the cool kids are. The modern, fresh design is augmented by staff who could school the world on hotel hospitality. So modest, they don't even mention they provide free car service everwhere, including Enoshima. BTW, it's not about the quantity of temples, shrines, it's about quality and variety. See an island shrine instead of overdoing it in town. Take a beach day to unwind, enjoy the free drinks and sit in your 21st century jet tub with light therapy or watch Japanese TV-- entertaining even if you don't speak it. Relish the DOZENS of spa products on offer, "serbisu desu" (that's free, y'all). Use it as a jumping off point for Hakone, so you don't have to pay inflated prices there for far lesser properties and hoards of tourists. The only problem: it will ruin other hotels for you, as the service bar is stratospheric!

Loved this little boutique style hotel right on sea front at Fujisawa. Staff were extremely hospitable and friendly. Loved this little boutique style hotel right on sea front at Fujisawa. Staff were extremely hospitable and friendly. Room was very modern and clean and larger than a lot of the hotel rooms we stayed in in Japan. Quality and choice of amenities were amazing. Offered a gin and tonic or beer or whatever really on arrival. Breakfast was served in your room at your choice of time and you had a great choice including a Macdonalds breakfast from along the street if you fancied it. Gave us a lift back to the nearest train station. Only drawback was road traffic was noisy outside but that would be the same for all hotels in this area. Would definitely stay again and recommend.
