Teeny tiny double room but as I was only using as a base while on business it was fine but had there been 2 of us sharing for a longer time, I would have struggled with the limited space. Room had no wardrobe, just a hang rail opposite the bathroom, no drawer space at all. Luggage can easily be stored under the bed. Small table and chair and a clever shelf which housed tissues, cups, coffee supply and hanging off that a couple of rattan bags housing the hairdryer and slippers, clever use of limited space! Bathroom was fine, small and compact with a half bath and shower over Electric sockets just above the headboard was useful as said headboard was wide enough for me to place phone on for charging. Another double socket was close to the kettle. Coffee bags provided were good but no milk, I drink black coffee so fine by me. Good wifi throughout Room keys were actual keys… can’t remember the last time I stayed anywhere with a physical key. Bit of a pain for housekeeping to clean room, had to remember to leave key at reception when going out for the day, otherwise doesn’t get done but they leave a bag with clean towels, coffee supply, fresh slippers hanging on the door. Key cards for the rooms would be advantageous. Room was on 9th floor, on the left of the building as you look towards main entrance. Great that I could actually open a window however, there seems to be a meeting place for young locals down this side street. The noise from midnight to 03:00 was a bit much every night. Fortunately I was suffering the effects of jet lag so I was wide awake anyway but otherwise I would have been really irritated. Language was a barrier everywhere. Being British, we almost, expect everyone to speak English, an unfair assumption as I certainly don’t speak Japanese!! Google translate became my best friend Had a meal in the Smoke Room restaurant which was excellent. I ordered the Japanese Beef which was stunning but it came as just that no accompaniments. I “think” it’s more like a Tapas style and I should have ordered more dishes so the Menu could have explained this a little better All in all, a great value for money hotel with no frills

Really vintage hotel with a beautiful bar on the ground floor. The 2nd floor lobby is really charming, too. I really enjoyed the aesthetics. However, the roofs were super-tiny. And the bathroom is very similar to the cabin bathroom for a commercial air plane. Except this bathroom includes a tiny shower. Here’s the wild thing. The hand sink knobs for hot and cold are the same for the shower! Never seen that before in my life. So when you get in the shower you reach over to the hand sink to turn it on. Haha! The room has a window that opens to the balcony, but you have to be really thin to squeeze through the opening to actually access the balcony. The biggest shortcoming with the room and my main complaint, is that there is no air conditioning. So my advice is do not stay here in the summer.
