We stayed here for 1-night at the end of our trip of Japan. The hotel provided good value for money, in a great location in Yokohama not too far from Minatomirai and the Red Brick Warehouse. We got an earlier check in which was appreciated and efficient handling of our luggage. However the rooms are very dated (although expected based on the pictures) and could do with a refurb. Shuttle bus to Haneda airport runs every hour or so which was a good option for us rather than using the crowded trains.

The rooms offer great views but are definitely showing their age - in a few places the paint was peeling, and a simple repaint would make a big difference. That said, the older style does mean the rooms are very spacious, and the beds are still extremely comfortable. I was under the impression there was a pool, but there isn't. However, the bathtub was pretty deep :) The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from Minatomirai Station. A useful tip if you have luggage: take the escalators up through Queen’s Mall to the 2nd floor and follow the signs to Yokohama Bay Hotel Tokyu - this route avoids stairs and makes the walk much easier. I was able to check in early (at around 12PM) and got a 4pm checkout as an IHG Ambassador member, but your mileage may vary! I also got a ¥2000 coupon to spend on food and drink around the hotel which was very much appreciated! There was a very long line at around 3PM though as this seemed to be when everyone was checking in - so beware! The Ambassador line could have been more prominently displayed, but I did notice it eventually... Despite its few shortcomings, the price was much less than any luxury hotel in Tokyo, and Tokyo is very easy to reach by train!

Made reservations as a Platinum IHG member and reserved a high floor city view King. Despite assurances at check in at 10 am our bags were not in our room when we returned at 4 pm. Made reservations as a Platinum IHG member and reserved a high floor city view King. Despite assurances at check in at 10 am our bags were not in our room when we returned at 4 pm. The room we got was obviously smoked in which the hotel tried to hide with chemicals and an airpurifier. The room itself was depressing. Everything was old, tired, broken and the bathroom would have looked okay in the 1970s. But not for a 5-star hotel today. We went back to reception and despite being told nothing else was available, we ended up with a club room without the right to use the lounge. Fine by us. This room had not been smoked in and had a bath and separate shower but also dated from the 1970s. Views were great. Service at the front desk is slow and no staff speaks proper English. But the location is great. 25 minute walk to Chinatown, right next door is the Pier (try the Spanish restaurant overlooking the Bay) and the red brick warehouse is a 15 minute walk. Haneda airport is just 35 minutes by taxi. We liked Yokohama, we liked the Bay area but the IC Bay needs renovations and a major service /language training. Oh, and the drinks voucher you get as an IC premium member, watch it as unlike anywhere in the world, the voucher is for 1 drink and not for 2 even though you are with your spouse or partner. Nickle and diming is never a great strategy…

“Sadly Japanese efficiency is lacking at this hotel”

We stayed here for 5 nights prior to our cruise. Location is great with easy access to two train stations making trips into Tokyo and Kamakura easy. We stayed here for 5 nights prior to our cruise. Location is great with easy access to two train stations making trips into Tokyo and Kamakura easy. Bus transfer from the airport is also easy using the bus service which literally drops you outside the hotel. We love Yokohama and would definitely recommend the area. Unfortunately the hotel was a disappointment. Showing its age and lack of English speaking staff, which, for an international chain was both surprising and at times frustrating. On two occasions we went out at 08.30 returning at approximately 16.00 and the room had not been serviced. After a long day sightseeing this is the last thing you want to return to. The Club lounge staff were friendly and we enjoyed the food and beverages on offer. Overall a comfortable hotel but with frustrations.
