We loved our experience at this hotel. The room was very roomy and after coming from the tiny hotel rooms of Tokyo, this was very welcomed. Our king room was very comfortable and perfectly clean and well equipped. We appreciated the bottled water provided daily as well as the free hot beverage dispenser in the lobby. We loved the delicious hot chocolate after a long day of sightseeing! Breakfast was very good with adequate selection of foods for all tastes. The front desk staff were very pleasant and tried to be helpful but they could be a little better trained. We asked for the best way to get to the Osaka airport and the attendant didn't have a clue and didn't really make an effort to find out. He looked relieved when I told him its OK, we'll figure it out ourselves. Thank goodness for Google! The location is quite central with adequate access to public transportation within a 5-10 minute walk but if you're planning to use a lot of public transit, a hotel near the train station might be better. However, this location is a nice area with a number of good restaurants within easy walking distance.

“Love this hotel!!”

The location was amazing! Around multiple stations that made getting around easy. The rooms were clean and spacious!!! The staff were very friendly and everyone spoke English which made things quite simple. I will definitely stay at this hotel again when I’m in Kyoto.

Not sure how to rate this hotel. I debated between three stars and four stars. I was here as part of a tour, for three nights. The hotel does quite a few things well, but had two strikes against it. Firstly, the positives: the room was large (especially by Japanese standards), it was quiet, there was a good seating area and workdesk area, and quite a large shower in the bathroom. Breakfast was good, and there was usually adequate seating. Access to public transit is good, and the location in Kyoto is great. There are numerous shops and good eating options in the area around the hotel. And the negatives: The washer-dryers in the laundry room really don't work very well. This is specific to this hotel, not to Japan in general. Washer-dryers in other hotels in Japan worked very well. However, the big negative was the lack of natural light in the room. The room was less than one metre away from another building, and the room looked directly into someone else's office. There is a reason that all the room photos on the websites show either frosted glass in the windows, or drapes closed. After three days the lack of natural light got very depressing. Some of the rooms do have windows that do not look into other buildings and do get natural light. It's rather 'luck of the draw', as it does not appear that you can specify this. I have stayed at other hotels in Kyoto, and in the future would probably go back to one of them instead, because of this, despite all the things this hotel does well. However, if natural light is not important to you, and if you don't plan to use the laundry room, you'll probably be very happy with this hotel.
