This hotel is amazing! The staff are very personable, even with limited English ability. The rooms are good sized, very modern and stocked with all the amenities you'd expect. There were vending machines on my floor, so having a green tea or something wonderfully new was easy to get. The bar on the top floor (?) was very chic and had the best desserts. The breakfast every morning was amazing. So many choices for any and all dietary restrictions. Honestly, the food all over Japan was just superb! The area around the hotel is super nice. I walked to a 7-11 that is just down the street for late night snacks. I really loved the slippers and night shirt provided as I'd forgotten to pack slippers and my nightie wasn't very warm. I live in Phoenix, so I don't buy heavyweight material. lol! I'd highly recommend this hotel and if I should visit Kyoto again, this is one of two hotels on my short list to book.

I spent 4 nights here. Checkin was very welcoming. My room was comfortable and quiet. I enjoyed the Japanese style decor of my room a lot! Regarding amenities however there was no shower cap nor body lotion and no robe which I found a bit odd. I had lots of water, 4 bottles replenished daily and a pod type coffee machine which I liked. There isn't much around the property however that one could walk like a 711 or Family Mart nor restaurants and shops. You really need to take a cab to places unless you want to wait for the shuttle bus to take you back to the station and take the train from there. Since there were no close restaurants nearby I ate at the ones at the hotel, the Chinese one was pretty good. Skip having the Caesars Salad at the bar. That really needs a lot of improvement. I also enjoyed the lounge. I liked that there were many local Japanese people staying here as well. Concierge were very helpful.

I see they've posted the fountain/pool as the public image of this hotel. Good choice; that fountain in the lobby is gorgeous. I see they've posted the fountain/pool as the public image of this hotel. Good choice; that fountain in the lobby is gorgeous. The rooms, too, are attractive, and more spacious than other Japanese hotels I've stayed in. The hotel has a workout room, which is another advantage over other hotels. So there's a lot of good value at this hotel. The breakfast buffet is excellent; and for a foreigner like me, the buffet gave me a good education regarding a traditional Japanese breakfast (see photo). Now, about the location: this hotel is near a bus stop, and that's necessary; you'll never get to major cultural sites without it. You won't find a desirable restaurant without it, either. That Royal Host restaurant across the street? Don't bother. It's like any "family restaurant" in Florida; if you're American or Canadian, you know what I mean and you know it isn't a compliment. The restaurant in the hotel itself isn't bad at all, just expensive. So, definitely a reasonable choice if you're staying in Kyoto; but save some money for multiple trips on the bus or taxi.
