Very friendly hosts. We stayed in a triple room , 2 single beds and 1 tatami queen beds. Breakfast was prepared by the host . Parking avail just outside the minsu . Bathroom has a bath tub as well as shower head . Aircon working great. Good for family

Kaigetsu Inn is across the street from Toba train station. It’s also across the street from the seafood market/restaurant where you can get the freshest seafood in Toba. The Kaigetsu Yumin Club next door which is operated by the same management will offer you a genuine cultural/historical tour of the cities sites. I’ve traveled but the memories I have of Toba is cherished because of the personal touch of the Kaigetsu team. Choose to have dinner at the hotel, the food is a tour of all toba cuisines. Recommended wholeheartedly. Stayed 8 nights, everyday was a new adventure. Shrines, fishing, Ama Tour and Ama Hut lunch, and kayaking.

Very friendly and helpful host (mother and daughter team) and their staff. Location is good, near to JR Toba station. Many seafood restaurants within a few minutes walk. The lady owner (mother) recommended a seafood restaurant, Bun, two minutes walk from the hotel, which serves excellent fish and oysters. The seafood was fresh and most importantly, reasonably priced. We didn't realise that The Mikimoto Pearl island is just across the hotel (walk across the carpark), The lady host explained to us how to get there. The daughter who speaks good English, told us that they are the fifth generation and the hotel has been operated by their family for 150 years. Although the hotel looks old, the rooms are clean and the bathroom and toilet look newly renovated and is the typical modern style that you find in most new hotels. They also own and operate a travel agency two shops next to the hotel. Hotel has no lift so if you have mobility issues, it would be problematic as the rooms are upstairs. I have a knee issue but managed to get up and down slowly. The luggage bags will be handled by the staff and they deliver them to your room. I didn't use the onsen which is on the top floor, but my husband did. He said it was small and quite slippery, so go with another person in case you fall and nobody knows.

Very friendly staff. Very nice food: this was amongst our best Japanese breakfasts in Japan, we were given onigiri for the day, and the diner was delicious. Good location next to the train station, to some nice restaurants, to Mikimoto island and the aquarium. However the bathroom was very small. The air conditioning was old and noisy. The room and ryokan overall would deserve some renovation. The wifi worked only in the common spaces, not in the rooms.
