We really liked this place. Although it is in no way seaside or “Breeze Bay”-ish, it is a nice hotel situated on the hillside in an attractive forest. I liked that it was only a 5-10min walk from the train station and town. The hotel staff were super friendly and helpful and really made us feel at home. The all day snacks and the free happy hour drinks and snacks were a really nice touch. Our room was clean and comfortable with a couple of windows overlooking the parking area and forest. The wifi and AC both seemed to work great. We made use of the free bikes and went for a great ride around the countryside. They are little fold up jobs but with 5 or 6 gears to help getting up the hills. Overall, a great base for your stay in Matsushima, and recommended to all travellers.

Totally enjoyed my peaceful stay in this balinese feel hotel! The dining area has a nice ocean view. Totally enjoyed my peaceful stay in this balinese feel hotel! The dining area has a nice ocean view. It is also very family friendly with comfy play area for children while parents can just lounge around after dinner or breakfast. Best of all, they have two private onsens and separate ones for male and female hotel guests! There is also a table tennis facility next to the onsen:)

“Good Value in Matsushima.”

松島海岸駅から、迎えのシャトルがあると読んだので連絡すると、タクシーが来てくれました。 おそらくシーズンオフ？で、シャトルバスが出ない時間帯だったからだと思う。 地図で見ると、歩いて7分とあるので歩こうかと思ったが、急な坂を上がっていくので車で良かった。 日本三景の松島でありますが、バリ島をイメージ。 テロリン〜タララン〜とロビーに流れる音楽もバリ調。 チェックインの3時から6時まで、ビールを含むアルコール類、おでん、スナックなどがラウンジで自由にいただけます。 トロピカルスタンダード25平米　160cm幅クイーンサイズダブル。 一番安いカテゴリーの2人部屋ですが、それなりに広さもある。 … more

The music that plays in the lobby is also Balinese style. From check-in time of 3:00 to 6:00, you can freely enjoy alcoholic beverages including beer, oden (Japanese stew) , snacks, etc. in the lounge. Our room was : Tropical standard 25 square meters, 160 cm width queen size double. Although it was one of the cheapest category, it was somewhat spacious for Japanese standard. There were no closets or safes. The bathroom was a small unit bath. The view from the window was green bamboo and I could hear the birds chirping. The bed was hard and my back ached the next day, and the pillows were thin and small. The next morning I noticed that there was a poster in the lounge saying that there were pillows we get to choose. There were two private bath that you can reserve and use for 45 minutes. Western style and Japanese style. At check-in, we checked an available time and chose for the Japanese-style bath. I read in other reviews that the floor was slippery and uncomfortable, and there were hairs floating around but there were no problems when we used it. The open-air bath in the public bath was small and feels uncomfortable if several people were in it. There was a recreation room. Ping pong, billiards, golf putters, children's swings and slides, etc. Also a karaoke room, which seemed to be reserved, and I could hear the lively singing voices. As for the breakfast, I was satisfied with the variety. I was happy to find even fried oysters. This is not a high end hotel and even though I wasn't expecting much at all, it was good stay in terms of value. From shuttle services to free lounges, entertainment facilities, and a choice of private bath. it's clear that Breeze Bay Seaside Resort companies are working hard to please their guests.

I was going to give this hotel 2 stars but then I felt I was being a bit unfair. Saying that, I feel it’s important to know that each guest’s experience may differ to the next. I went on a family trip with my in-laws - their room was bright and smelt okay, whiles ours was very dark and had a horrible smell of stale smoke. The whole hotel has seen better days, with an utterly random Bali inspired theme. But there are plus points in that the whole place is quite endearing. Just go in knowing you will not get luxury in any form. Breakfast was good, and if you drink beer they offer free drinks for a few hours in the afternoon. I think the smoke smell of my room just really turned me off.
