According to owner’s declaration, he is the 14th descendant of proud Ishikawa family and has kept his onsen ryokan according to his strict rule. His onsen water is all natural of course without reheating or mixing other sources. Public bath tub is comparatively small about 1.8m x 2.7m x 0.7 meter. They have private onsen bathtub for rent as well. Dinner and breakfast were carefully served with fresh local produces, fish and meat. It’s not a fancy ryokan but a place to experience real one.

“A Classic Japanese Ryokan Experience ”

It is located about 15 minutes car ride from the city. Always wanted to have a traditional Japanese ryokan experience and this was it. Staffs were very friendly and helpful. It is located about 15 minutes car ride from the city. Always wanted to have a traditional Japanese ryokan experience and this was it. Staffs were very friendly and helpful. Checkin was simple and staff showed all the facilities and amenities in the hotel and the room. The onsen was small and basic, nothing to shout about. Due to COVID-19, max 3 people can use the onsen at 1 time. There are private onsen with outdoor bath but it requires reservation and separate charges. Room was traditional Japanese style. It is not easy to go out and about if you don’t have car. So best to prepare supplies before arriving. Breakfast was included in my room package and it was really good. Had a wonderful experience.

We arrived late for a one night stay so my review is limited since we stayed a brief stay-one night on our trip to Nagano but to see Matsumoto. We were surprised that hotel was outside the city and quite aways so keep this in mind with booking. In other words not near any close restaurants or stores. If arriving late (like us) you only have one option for dinner at their Hotel as restaurants seem to close early this time of year in Matsumoto. We arrived after dinner so had limited options. Keep in mind (as commented below) that if coming from US-Europe that this is a traditional Japanese room. Along with mattress and style. My wife and daughter tried the baths and enjoyed it. Positive comments they gave for this. The room itself is traditional Japanese withe Japanese beds tatami mattress. I'm still not used to this type of mattress or sleeping so keep this in mind as well when booking if coming from the West or Europe. Otherwise room was spacious and had nice bath-shower but not the traditional shower or bath. It was a step in bath like shower which made it a challenge with small children. Grounds themselves were nice with great views of surrounding area and a nice garden in center of hotel. Hotel itself is quaint and peaceful. Their breakfast was good. So I think a great place to stay for traditional Japanese experience but with small children I would like choose a traditional -"Western" style room closer to restaurants and city if I had to choose again.

Ok this place hor... isn’t very cheap also not say very expensive .. we paid about $250 for it with Dinner and Breakfast. So u know lah.. Kaiseki dinner maybe will cost about $80-$100 outside , give breakfast about $20 per pax we kinda figured room is about $130-$150 seems reasonable for 2 of us. … more

Kaiseki dinner maybe will cost about $80-$100 outside , give breakfast about $20 per pax we kinda figured room is about $130-$150 seems reasonable for 2 of us. Which was ok actually , room is big enough for 2 and comfy. Generally clean lah.. got abit of dust here and there. But acceptable by most standards. The dinner was good. Like seriously good spread and good food. Eat until cannot move Sia. Alcohol also reasonably priced so shiok. But ah ... wah Lau the bathroom ... I feel like can be better Lor.. I’ve been to a lot of hotel baths and even public onsens also better than this. Like seriously... who will wanna soak in a onsen pool where the showers are so close that water splashes in when people shower? and also where the tiles are literally black? Black stuff growing = mold leh. Cannot lah. But other than that .. it’s ok if u can snag a good rate!
