“It was an unforgettable stay.”
I stayed with my wife here for a nights in Aug. We stopped Asama-onsen before visiting Kamikochi national park. Takes 15 minutes by taxi from Matsumoto train station. Good location to take a rest with hot springs after 4 hours trip from Tokyo. The building was looked old but the traditional Japanes… more

“Great little getaway!”
We have visited here several times in past and always great service. Rooms are spacious, and included dinner and breakfast are excellent. Three onsens. 1 for men on 1st floor, 1 for women on 4th floor and private onsen on 6th floor. Great place.

“A good choice for limited budgets”
We chose Yumotoya because it was much less expensive than many other ryokan in the Matsumoto area and we were traveling on a budget. “Standard hotel in a suburban locale”
The food was good and the hot baths were surprisingly large. The location is not great if you are interested in sightseeing the city, but it's good for hiking or trips to the mountain. The rooms were slightly old, but with standard japanese hospitality; exactly what you need.

“Mixed -- Don't Look too Closely and Check Your Reservation”
The hotel overall, and my room specifically, had a lot of wear and tear: the western portion of my room had sizable stains on the carpet and splatter marks on the walls (The tatami portion of the room was fine).
