Hotel is very quiet and peaceful. Staff are professional and focused on service. This hotel is very popular with older Japanese guests. Room is dated but very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was expensive but very good if you like mainly Japanese food. They have lounge with free drinks, but it is small and can get very busy. It will be nice if you are allowed to fill up your water bottles in lounge since they don't offer water bottles in the room. Location is great. It is by train station and walking distance to attractions. I will definitely stay there again.

“Great experience at Hotel Nikko Nara!”

Stay with family, October 2024. The hotel is on the west side of JR Nara Station and was easy to get to from KIX Airport via the train. The hotel is directly connected to the station via the 2nd floor walkway after exiting the station. Check-in went very smoothly. They still use metal keys instead of electronic keys. The rooms were standard triples with three large twin beds. Rooms were immaculate. Stocked with the standard amenities common in Japanese hotels. Very comfortable and decent sized rooms. Could use more electrical outlets for charging, but we made do. No USB charging ports. Housekeeping was very good and consistent. It was nice to have been left free bottles of water every day. The rooms are incredibly quiet and sound isolated. With my 2-year-old niece next door throwing a tantrum, I could bearly hear it and she's LOUD. The public bath on the 6th floor is a nice amenity, however, as an American, it was a bit awkward and uncomfortable being nude in public. It would have been a nice touch if there was an informative directions in the room that you could read and learn before going into the public bath to be prepared. All in all the hotel is lovely and it is easy to get into Osaka and Kyoto from the JR line. The station has several souvenir shops and restaurants and a supermarket on the ground floor. The Kansai Airport Limousine bus also has a direct link to this station. The daily breakfast is lovely! Although not part of my room rate, we paid for the daily breakfast and it is well worth it! It has both Western and Japanese options. The Welcome Lounge is a nice touch, it's just a room off the reception desk with sake, wine, coffee, and juice. A pleasant space to sit and enjoy a drink. No food is served. It was nice to taste the different sakes of Nara being served. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a nice place in the Kansai region. With easy access to major cities, it's a quiet place to call home for a few days.

I stayed for four nights in an attractive, spacious twin room with a couch, small table and chair, and a desk with another chair. The bed I used was comfortable and I liked the pillows. There were nice big mirrors, a good artwork, lots of clothes hanging space, one drawer, a small TV, a safe, and a mini fridge. I didn't have to add water to the humidifier which was a bonus! The WiFi was good and there were ample power sources with a triple adapter provided. There was a nice city, railway lines and hills view but the criss-cross wire through the glass made it very difficult if not impossible to get good photos of it. It was great to have a coffee capsule machine with small mugs and four capsules per day, as well as roast and green teabags and lovely tea bowls with lacquer saucers, and an electric jug. (I did find I had to press the button on the coffee machine twice to get the usual small cup - as opposed to espresso - size.) Also there were two glasses and two beakers. The deep bath was plastic but very suitable for a decent soak. There was a separate shower area and nice complimentary facial products. The usual amenities were also provided, except no shower caps, cotton sets or face cloths. It was a bonus to have access to a washing machine and clothes dryer. The dryer was cheap to use but the clothes were still damp after an hour, and there was nowhere to hang them in the room except on the towel and wardrobe racks. A retractable clothes line would've been useful. The breakfast buffet had a good variety of choices. Staff were pleasant and helpful, with some English spoken. The hotel lobby had interesting displays linked to Nara's culture, history and artisanal work, with sitting spaces to relax, and the soft toys on the reception desk were very cute! I was charged for a staff member arranging my luggage forwarding. It was a very small cost - only about 300 yen - but I mention it because it's the first time I've ever been charged for that service across dozens of hotel stays in Japan. The convenience of the location, part of the JR Nara Station complex and on the same level as the ticket gates, cannot be overestimated if you're arriving and leaving on JR trains and also want to use them for day trips. And of course, big stations in Japan provide much shopping opportunity! It takes 20 to 25 minutes to walk to Kasuga Taisha or Todai-ji, with many other sights along the way, or you can catch one of the clearly indicated buses at the station. Additionally, the Nara Kintetsu Station (which is convenient for many prefectural sights) is a few blocks away. Thank you, I would stay again.
