Welcomed right from the get go even though our room wasn't quite ready! The staff were incredibly kind. Honestly, finding an affordable accommodation in Nara at this good of a location does not come easy, and so if you're traveling on a budget this is an excellent option. Room was very clean, air conditioning worked very well on those hot summer days, we were in the budget room but it was still decently comfortable and spacious for two people. Definitely would recommend.

“Nice Clean Hotel - Comfortable experience”

Stayed three nights here in Nara (Nara is so beautiful). The hotel is incredibly close to the first few temples of Nara. Literally a 3 minute walk and you’re surrounded by Deer and a temple. Stayed three nights here in Nara (Nara is so beautiful). The hotel is incredibly close to the first few temples of Nara. Literally a 3 minute walk and you’re surrounded by Deer and a temple. Hotel was comfortable, stayed in a private room with a massive bathroom and comfortable western style beds. Had to pay 200 yen for more blankets? That was a bit weird but overall it was a happy experience. Stay here for the location and great bathrooms.

Great value for money with a great location near all the sites - two qualities that might make this a perfect hotel, but there’s more to it. The hotel is located a goodly distance from the JR station. We had luggage and needed to get a taxi to take us to the hotel from the station and back to the station. The day we were to leave the first taxi the hotel called for us never arrived so we had them call another - we almost missed our train. The location of the hotel also is inconvenient for day trips that involve the train. Our Deluxe Queen Room with a separate tatami area was listed at 344 square feet and it was gigantic. It could easily sleep four people if the sofa were used as a bed or the tatami area was converted to a sleeping area. Our room was very quiet, perhaps because the hotel was relatively vacant during our stay. The reception staff were helpful and cheerful - especially one woman with excellent English. When I mentioned that I really missed not having an electric kettle, they loaned us one. Some of the night staff had little or no English, but it never was a problem. Each day when we handed in our key before venturing out we were asked if it was OK to clean the room. There are lots of different types of rooms, besides huge ones like ours. A kitchen with microwaves, refrigerator, and sink is on the top floor along with hostel/dorm rooms and lots of young tourists chatting around the TV. Bicycles are available for rent, though less expensive ones can be had from other places nearby. No lobby, no restaurant, no tea pot, no tea things, no cups/glasses (only paper cups), no yukatas - none of these were expected; nowhere does it suggest that the hotel has these niceties, but it would have been better if they did. Lots of area (unnecessarily) devoted to the bathroom sink while the shower area is a bit crowded by comparison. The furniture is a bit worn down, which is especially strange since the hotel is relatively new and newly renovated from its former self. Our large screen TV had a big scratch right across the center; we have no idea how that could have happened and don’t want to ponder it. The TV worked and the scratch didn’t really effect viewing. The small closet was half size length and located over the refrigerator. If you want to say you once stayed in a love hotel, stay here at this (former) love hotel!
