“Delightful staff. Delicious food. Unusual accommodation. Remote location.”
We based ourselves here in order to explore Mount Aso (which was spectacular) but the location was over an hour from the volcano. This is among one of the best ryokans that I have stayed in. It is in the middle of nowhere. We stayed there for two nights and the place makes you feel like you are in touch with nature. “Value for money!”
We paid about 200+ versus other onsen places that were in a range of 400-500. This was good value to me, as I still got the Ryokan experience and one major benefit is that the onsen bath (both indoors and outdoors) were private and attached to the room versus most other Ryokans. “Rustic in the best way!”
'Rustic' was the first word that popped into our heads when we pulled into the compounds. But the room was cosy, the meals served were intricate and tasty, and the hospitality was warm. It felt like being a part of someone's home.
