“Hilton consistency but Diamond Status did seem to have same value as other locations”

Good points: - free parking for Diamond member - beach is clean - executive lounge is nice with decent food and drink selection and good views - fireworks were good and not something you get with all properties Average Points: - room was lack luster and no upgrade available despite the fact that there is no way it was full - outside pool is small for the size of the property - customer service was fine Bad points --breakfast is a zoo. American family of five vacation for two weeks across Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto and finally Okinawa (NY, United States), so take this for what it’s worth. I travel frequently for business and have visited many Caribbean resorts. We stayed in three different properties in Japan, so my review takes all of the above factors into account. First, the Setsoko location. The hotel’s physical plant is fine - clean, well maintained and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The issue is that they are located on a small island so without a car there aren’t really many nearby alternatives outside the property. It’s evident that they take advantage of this by charging above market rates for everything. Next, the food. Relative to mainland restaurants the prices are expensive. In the instance of the à la carte restaurants, this is OK because the food at the steakhouse and the Italian restaurant was good quality. The buffet is, well, buffet food, and unfortunately it’s quite overpriced. You can get à la carte for lunch and dinner, but buffet is the only option for breakfast. Most street restaurants are superior at a fraction of the cost, but you can’t easily access them without a car so you’re stuck. There is a lobby cafe and bar but the hours are quite limited. Poolside seating is also limited and the pool is quite small in reference to resort standards. When we visited they seemed to be low occupancy so it wasn’t a real issue, though. The public beach area is nice with many umbrellas/ chaise lounges and is a short walk from the pool area. My general impression was that the staff often seems overwhelmed and has very limited English capability, making communication a bit more difficult than our experience on the mainland. As a result, there were frequent misunderstandings on hotel policies, ordering, etc. As with most Japanese people we encountered, they are pleasant and friendly. It’s a perfectly suitable hotel for lodging and there are also more dining options if you have Gold or Diamond Hilton status. It’s just not what I personally would classify as resort quality and that is what they call themselves. It’s what I call a ‘tweener’ - it wants to be a resort and charge resort $$ but it’s actually a standard hotel, so it falls between the two. In the future I would either upscale up to the more expensive, true ‘resorts’ or downscale to the nice, less expensive ‘hotels’ because both would offer superior value to this location, in my opinion.

We had a wonderful stay at Hilton Okinawa Sesoko Resort. The views, food, and overall facilities, including the room were excellent and made our trip very enjoyable. However, one thing concerned us during check‑in. We were assisted by an Indian male staff member, but he did not mention any of the Gold Member benefits such as room upgrades, late check-out, or restaurant & parking discounts. Everything was processed as if we were regular guests. Only after we brought up the Gold benefits ourselves were they finally applied. We also wanted to ask whether a room upgrade was available, but we ended up giving up on that conversation. As Gold members, we hope the hotel can follow the standard Hilton level of hospitality and recognition. On a positive note, our breakfast experience was exceptional thanks to a staff member named Nisha. Among all the Hilton properties we have visited in Japan, her service truly stood out. She remembered guests well, kindly accommodated seating preferences, and communicated warmly with everyone. Because of her outstanding hospitality, we chose to have breakfast at the hotel restaurant every morning instead of eating outside. I sincerely hope she receives recognition for her excellent work.
