Had a great 7-night stay at Hotel Hankyu GRAN RESPIRE Osaka. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable, and the shower amenities were refreshing perfect after long days out. Staff may have limited English, but they are polite and always willing to help. Just be careful not to confuse it with Hotel Hankyu RESPIRE Osaka which we made that mistake on Day 1 as both share the same logo 😅 (lobby is on Level 5). Location is convenient yet on a quieter side. Easy access via the 2nd floor walkway to JR Osaka Station, linking to LUCUA Osaka and the Umeda shopping area Cthough it can feel like a maze. Only downside: airport limousine bus does not stop directly at the hotel. The nearest stop is at Hankyu Sanbangai (not Herbis Plaza as advised), which took some time to figure out. Overall, a very comfortable and convenient stay 👍

“Decent Option near JR Osaka Station”

We recently stayed at the Hotel Hankyu Gran Respire Osaka for 7 nights. Located in the new Grand Green Osaka development, it is adjacent to the enormous Osaka Station City complex and connected to it via both above ground and underground pedestrian walkways. It is next to the luxury Waldorf Astoria Osaka, which really is all there is to say about the location. The rooms are usual size for its class based on Japanese standards, which is to say avoid using large clamshell style hardside luggage if possible. There is really no room to open more than one other than on the bed. The in-room TV supports Apple AirPlay and Chromecast, which is a big bonus. One surprise feature is that there is a status monitor for the 4 self service coin operated laundry machines, located on the 6th floor, right on your TV. This is critically important if you prefer to travel light and need to do laundry in the middle of the trip. 4 coin operated laundry machines are not nearly enough for the whole hotel, so the laundry machines are always in use during peak hours. One feature we absolutely don’t like is their housekeeping options. They are controlled by a touchpad next to the bed. There are 3 separate toggles: Do Not Disturb, No Cleaning, and Eco Cleaning. This is very confusing. Problem #1: Do Not Disturb overrides the other 2 toggles, but the only indicator is a tiny red badge in the icon. From a UI design perspective, this is really poor design. A badge is supposed to be non-intrusive, but for an overriding option, they definitely should make the whole icon in reverse color to make it more visually intrusive. Problem #2: Eco Cleaning means they will only provide a fresh set of towels and replenish the water. They will NOT enter the room and empty the trash. I understand this is based on environmental friendly concerns, and I understand the desire not to change bedsheets everyday. But at least they should empty the trash by default. Not emptying the trash everyday doesn’t reduce the amount of trash; it just means they will accumulate, and with the tiny trash bins, it is not very hygienic. This give us no choice but to choose full cleaning every day just to have the trash bins emptied and have some fresh towels, which defeats the purpose of Eco Cleaning. Access is relatively easy; JR Osaka Station is right next to the complex. The closest exit is the Umekita Underground Gate, which serves a new set of underground platforms including the ones used by the Haruka Airport Express. Most other JR train services use the overground platforms which can be accessed via the West Gate inside the Inogate Osaka building of the Osaka Station City complex which is connected to the hotel via a 2/F skybridge, or the much busier Central Gate where all the shops and restaurants are in the adjacent Lucua, Lucua 1100 and Grand Front Osaka buildings. The main Midosuji subway line’s Umeda station is on the east side of the Osaka Station, and the Hankyu Railway main terminal is further to the east. Yes, it is walkable, depending on how many luggage you are carrying. Remember Osaka Station is one of the busiest in the whole Kansai region. If you try to walk back to the hotel from the JR station, keep in mind the opening hours of the Lucua 1100 building, because once it is closed, the overground walkway is blocked. You can still walk to the hotel using the underground walkway. Look for signs pointing you to Umekita Underground Gate; as of April 2026, there is no sign whatsoever for Grand Green Osaka. Once you pass that gate it is a short walk to the basement level of Grand Green Osaka. Thank me later. Also, while going to / from Kansai Airport is really convenient using Haruka Express, if somehow you are using the Itami Airport, there are no taxis available from the hotel entrance. There is a public taxi stand about 100m away. Depending on the size of your traveling party, whether you are traveling with infacts or elders, or if you are traveling in adverse weather, walking to the public taxi stand with your luggage may not be ideal. Keep that in mind.
