Free transportation between hotel and train station. 3 public hot springs in 2 buildings. There are sea view in the old building. The dinner and breakfast are so luxury. The price for extra alcohol is very reasonable.

Free drinks (non alcoholic) at the lobby in the morning and evenings. The food was phenomenal! The best onsen breakfast and dinner on our trip (we had 3). Worth every yen for the amount and quality. The kids meal was just as good with lots of variety. Our room was beautiful! Clean. The bedding was good quality. Only negative: the outdoor onsen wasn't entirely private, and when you sit down, you can't really see the ocean. Wifi was nonexistent in our room.

We arrived at the Izu-Inatori train station by the Superview Odoriko and were picked up by their shuttle bus at 2pm, which took about 5mins to reach the resort. It's too far to walk with luggages (20mins with some ups and downs) so best to arrange for their pickup. We received a warm welcome from Sazana's manager, Mr. Jun Sugiyama who did a brilliant job of briefing us very thoroughly on the resort's facilities. He was very thoughtful and took note of some of our requests most efficiently. In fact all the staff at Sazana displayed a great spirit of hospitality throughout our 4N stay. Wonderful service! The resort started operations summer of 2015. It is decorated with warm earth tones and dark chestnut colours, with light bosa nova music playing in the background, thus giving it a slightly tropical seaside boutique resort ambience. Yet it still retains the amazing japanese omotenashi (hospitality) which is unique to this country. The whole place is very clean and cozy, well kept and is a nice place for couples who want something a little different from the traditional ryokan stay. Free coffee time served between 6pm-9pm and 6am-9am (but they were flexible when we arrived in the lobby at 9:10am). Nice tasting coffee (cafe au lait is the first button on the left of the machine, cappucino is the 2nd button on the left; expresso is the 3rd button in the center row). There is a vending machine at the side with nice bottled fresh milk too. Free wifi available in the lobby and rooms. The private bath "Yururuko" has a spacious changing room and bathing area and we really enjoyed a good soak in this nice facility everyday. It has an indoor bath (comfortable for 3 adults) as well as an outdoor tub (best for 1 px). Good toiletries like cleanser, facial wash and moisturizers. But bring your shower cap, comb and towels from your room. Reservable for 40mins. Natural hotspring water. I think they are in the midst of building their own public hotspring baths which should be ready by summer 2016. In the meantime, guests can use the baths in their sister hotel just opposite. We were so comfortable with the private bath that we didnt try those out. Our room was on the 6F, Twin Non smoking with a side view of the ocean. Very very clean and cozy, comfortable for us as we are of medium size built, travelling with cabin size bags. Larger sized adults with big luggages may find it a little tight for space. The toilet and shower area was very modern with good amenities and cleansers. Meal times were very relaxing and enjoyable because of the enthusiastic staff and service. Very good servings of fresh sashimi nightly. Bear in mind that the cuisine in Sazana differs from the very traditional japanese kaiseki dishes as the style of cooking is a little more fusion and french. There are still about 8 courses (including rice & dessert) and the dishes are tasty, with a focus on fish. So it's important to know what you are looking for in terms of the cooking style. Sazana's meals are for those looking for something a little different from the normal traditional kaiseki cuisine. By the way, we ordered the sample 3 glasses of sake in the menu - very good! As we were staying for 4N, Jun-san was most accommodating with some request for certain dishes to be prepared "japanese" style eg the kinmedai fish which is their signature main dish each night. The texture of this fish is rather dense and we personally liked it done japanese style as it was more "tender" compared to it being baked or western style. But this is a personal preference since we enjoy japanese food very much. We were very grateful for their willingness in understanding our requests. Breakfasts were also sumptious. Our compliments to the chef who did his best to make our meals so oishi. Sights: This hotel is very conducive for those wanting to visit the kawazu sakura blooms. We were blessed to be at the right place at the right time from 22Feb-25Feb as the flowers were in full bloom earlier this year. Izu-Inatori is only 2 stations away from Kawazu station, takes only 10mins by local line. So we took the hotel shuttle at 10am, boarded the 10:15am train. Spent 3.5hrs strolling along the cherry blossoms area and caught the 2:07pm train. The hotel shuttle picked us up at 2:30pm. Times can be arranged with the front desk. Just outside Sazana is the Pacific ocean and it was nice to take a stroll along the promenade, enjoying the breeze and sound of the waves.. Seeing some signs about it being a tsunami alert area can be daunting so it's good to know where the evacuation areas are. On a positive note, Sazana has the 6F/7F which is pretty high up. To Jun-san, Mr. Taki, Mr. Daisuke, Mr. Isida, Mr. Tsujiyama, Ms Yuki, the Okami and the filipino lady at breakfast (apologize if the spellings are inaccurate) - a very big thank you to all the amazing staff at Sazana for a most enjoyable relaxing stay. It was a great stay and 33rd wedding anniversary holiday for us. Iroiroto arigato gozaimsau!

Visited on a Saturday after work. In summary, this is a modern onsen hotel without the traditional Japanese Ryokan goodies and services but can be a good visit for a short getaway weekend out of Tokyo into the rural area. The place is quite new and apparently was (renamed?) opened in 2015. The entrance is small but once inside, the lounge area is spacious and warming. The Japanese style room is clean and spacious but you won't find the traditional services where they serve you Japanese sweets and tea. The place can be very comfortable for a group of 4-6. The onsen area was under renovation and the water was mildly warm, not exactly my preference as I prefer my onsen to be quite hot. Again the dress area was simple with all the amenities that you can find in an onsen hotel. The food was excellent so are the services. The seafood French course was both attractive and delicious as you can see from the photos. The location is a bit distant from Tokyo so not as convenient but if closer I'd definitely be back.
