As one would expect from a business hotel in Japan, most of the rooms are quite small. I had a standard single room, which was completely adequate for one person. Hopefully the twin rooms are larger, though, as a 15m2 room would be too small for two people to be comfortable. The bathroom was fine, and the room had a work desk area which worked well. There was also a small fridge, and a reasonable amount of storage. The location about a block away from the station was very convenient for arrival by train. The hotel is a bit of a walk away from the main tourist area around the castle, though (about 2 km, but walkable if you enjoy walking). I found the front desk service to be efficient, and some English was spoken. This probably varies depending on who is staffing the front desk at the time you check in. In general, not much English is spoken in Matsue, as it is off the main tourist routes for foreigners. An unexpected bonus was the quality of the extra-cost breakfast, far better than expected in a budget business hotel. At the time the extra cost was 2000 yen, and given the quality of the breakfast buffet, I thought the cost of the buffet was reasonable.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. Our room was spacious with two large single beds and a good sized bathroom (however we saw into other rooms which looked quite a lot smaller). The breakfast buffet was good with many Asian and Western options. The location was very near the station (easy walking distance even with cases) which was great for getting the loop bus to the main sites. There were a number of restaurants around. All in all a good place to base yourself in Matsue.

Another typical Japanese inexpensive modern business hotel. Located right in front of Matsue Station, it had everything I needed for a couple of nights' stay in Matsue, plus day trips. Lots of restaurants in the area. You can have breakfast at Starbucks/local Japanese bakery inside the station. The castle and environs are a bus-ride or 30-minute walk away

The main assets of this hotel are indeed : location and service. I usually look for small hotels with a certain charm, sometimes though it is smart to be efficient. A clean comfortable room, at walking distance from the station. The breakfast buffet offered a large variety. The staff, website and handling of administrative matters efficient. I was happy with my decision to stay here.
