I booked a single room for 8 nights. Longer than my usual stays but the rate I was able to get was quite attractive. For those unaware, La Vista is a deluxe brand from the Dormy Inn hotels group. By the type of services offered you can tell the connection however most things are upgraded over the usual Dormy Inn. I recall they tried to get me to check in using their kiosks however it immediately error-ed and I had to go to the front desk anyway. The room itself was definitely more roomy and nicer than the standard Dormy Inn room however not the level of any of the 4 star western chains. The room was a single room and the bed is definitely sized for one person alone. Also unlike a standard Dormy Inn there was table with couch and plenty of room for one person to stretch out. There was a decent view of Tokyo Bay however I was only on the 4th floor so I imagine it would have been really good on an upper floor. There was also a separate entrance area which was also nice in comparison with more standard Japanese rooms. The hotel itself is located nearly next to Toyosu Market. This would actually be perfect for those who wish to attend the early morning fish auctions as you will be a mere 5-10 minute walk away. The most convenient train station will be Shijo-Mae Station on the Yurikamome Line. That said, if you’re open to taking a bus then I would actually recommend the Tokyo BRT which both starts and terminates at Shimbashi Station. This route is more direct with central Tokyo. The last bus departs Shimbashi at about 10:40 PM so if you stay out later you will have to take the Yurikamome Line which also begins and terminates at Shimbashi Station however is less direct and thereby takes marginally longer. There is also a 7-11 on the first floor across from the hotel entrance however it closes at 11:00 PM. The hotel has a really nice and roomy lobby and the building has various great views of the Tokyo Bay area. I suppose it is to be expected of a hotel with the name “La Vista.” The main restaurant on the first floor hosts the usual meal service as well as a nightly complimentary noodle service typical of the Dormy Inn group. The standard service is simple noodles and broth however they also offer complimentary add-ins after getting your bowl such as nori and vegetables. It’s a really nice service that this group of hotels provides and I appreciate it. The top floor features the public bath, pool, spa, and lounge with complimentary afternoon/evening ice cream service and vending machines. I actually found this hotel to have a slightly smaller selection for their ice cream service than other Dormy Inns I’ve stayed at. As I expected, the public bath was great! There is the standard hot bath with natural hot spring water, an open-air bath on a balcony, and a special bath that changes on a monthly basis. During my stay the special bath was mugwort infused. There is also a mizuburo (cold bath) and a sauna. The sauna was especially hot during my stay! 100 degrees Celsius which could climb up to 104 if the door was left closed for a long time. The baths, open-air bath, and locker room all feature a great view of Tokyo Bay. A great bonus is that the washing machines in the locker room are complimentary! The dryers are the standard 100 yen for 30 minutes however Japanese dryers are not the best and I recommend just hanging up your laundry. Overall it was a good stay, especially considering the price paid! I don’t find it to be the most convenient location however many of the amenities offered are quite good and I can’t deny that I enjoyed relaxing and enjoying the views.
