Shibuya Stream Hotel

“Good stay”

A good hotel in Shibuya, near one of the main transportation hubs. We had a small but functional room. We stayed there for a total of five nights and it was a good choice for exploring Tokyo and taking day trips to other cities. We enjoyed our stay.

I spent my week in Tokyo based at Shibuya Stream. As positives - it has an excellent location, with direct access to many lines with stops at Shibuya Station. The construction in the area makes things a bit confusing, but not impossible. The room was good sized, with separate sink, shower / tub and toilet areas. The TV is a bit strangely positioned in the seating area instead of in front of the bed in most hotel rooms. The hotel information on the TV was very helpful for reference. Bed was comfortable. Two options for housekeeping, which can be selected on a daily basis - full clean, or just garbage and towels. Each floor has a small themed area by the elevators, including laundry (3 machines) on one floor. You can track available machines on the room TV. Elevators were a bit slow on average. Minor annoyance, the 10th floor is the only floor that doesn’t have a chilled water dispenser on the floor. Overall, a solid base to use in Shibuya, with really quick access to the Yamanote Line, which was very handy.

For convenience, this hotel is great. It sits directly next to Shibuya Station, and here's a useful tip: take the lift down just one floor from the lobby to the third floor, and you have direct access to the station and the Yamanote Line. For convenience, this hotel is great. It sits directly next to Shibuya Station, and here's a useful tip: take the lift down just one floor from the lobby to the third floor, and you have direct access to the station and the Yamanote Line. You can be on a train within minutes of leaving your room. For navigating Tokyo, that's an enormous advantage. The hotel itself is stylish and nicely designed. The room had a little sofa, which was a welcome touch and gave it a slightly less cramped feel. That said, the room is compact and storage is limited — which, to be fair, is fairly typical of Tokyo hotels unless you're paying for a larger room. If you're there longer with a lot of luggage, as we were, it starts to feel tight. Breakfast was decent — a reasonable selection, though not the most extensive we encountered on the trip. Now, the iron. There isn't one in the room. To iron anything, you need to leave your room, walk the length of the corridor (and our room happened to be as far from the lift as possible), take the lift to the laundry floor, do your ironing, and make the whole journey back. Given there's also nowhere to hang ironed clothes in the room, this wasn't a one-off inconvenience — it became a daily ritual. Overall, a good hotel in a fantastic location but lacking some amenities.

“Good location but very hard bed.”

Very nice clean and quiet hotel but the beds are extremely hard. If you don’t like a hard bed you should avoid this one. Great location for shopping and trains.
