It was our first time in Japan and Rhodes Kagurazaka Hotel, located in a safe and quiet neighbourhood and a mere 5-minute walk from the Kagurazaka station, was the perfect place to stay. Place was well-kept, clean, organized. There was laundry powder for doing launders and complete kitchen utensils and cooking ware. Keys were in the room when we arrived at close to midnight and we simply had to walk in. Upon check out we also simply had to leave room keys inside the room and left quietly. Receptionist was very helpful with directions and other concerns of first-time travelers to Japan who can’t speak Japanese. There are 7-11s and other convenience stores nearby, coffee shops and other restaurants. We almost lived like locals! We had a blast.

Nice cozy capsule hostel. Everything worked :) Was missing locker for big travel bags (had to take them to bed).

Tucked on the fringe of Shinjuku but 10 mins walk to Metro station, really convenient. 15 mins walk also to an area where you will find eateries and other amenities such as supermarket etc. Outside the hotel flank both sides a convenience store and a small supermarket that provides you with the necessities. Opposite there is an Italian restaurant, and a handful of other restaurants. Kagurazaka is a residential area, therefore you will find things cheaper than central Tokyo. It's quiet and very peaceful unlike Shinjuku at all. Family of 3 adults and 1 child, we took the apartment., though its a little cramp as they provide a queen size a d a pull man. The room is kind of awkward though. However, it comes with a good shower and water pressure, warm toilet seat, cooker hob and hood, heater. Washing machine with washing powder and lots of clothes hanger but no hook on the walls. Rooms were clean. Enjoyed our stay there and would love to come back again. Staff are very pleasant and courteous, and helpful. Check in strictly after 2pm.

“Budget hotel in residential neighbourhood”

It's a budget hotel, minimal service. We only saw the front desk staff once during our week long stay. They were reachable by phone though so that's a plus. The unit we rented was a bit cramped for 3 people but it did come as advertised with a stove top, microwave and sink. Just nowhere to sit down… more

It's a budget hotel, minimal service. We only saw the front desk staff once during our week long stay. They were reachable by phone though so that's a plus. The unit we rented was a bit cramped for 3 people but it did come as advertised with a stove top, microwave and sink. Just nowhere to sit down and take advantage of it. There was also an in unit washing machine which was handy. the neighbourhood is residential with a convenience store on one side and a small produce market on the other. There were a couple restaurants nearby as well as a 7-11. There were two subway lines nearby, one a 5 minute walk (Tohei line) the other a 10 minute walk. Though we enjoyed our stay it was very bare bones minimalist so as long as you're prepared for that it will do the trick. Great for budget minded travelers.
