It's quite amazing we actually stayed here twice over a period of mere 6 months, but this business hotel is strategically located in close proximity to Yonago station, and serves as a great gateway to explore Sakaiminato, Tottori Hanakairo, and Kaike Onsen. We stayed in an economy double room, and in general, Toyoko-Inn's economy double room always have a slightly larger bed (double) comparing to most hotel's similar class accommodation (semi-double bed). Free breakfast is provided, and the hotel also have a host of good facilities such as coin laundry, microwave oven, drinking water, ice machine, vending machine, free laptop usage and printing etc, and if you book more than 2 nights from their website and opt out room cleaning for the 2nd night, you get 300 Yen discount, very typical Toyoko-Inn style. Toyoko-Inn's rooms are always well maintained, this one ain't any different. In-room WiFi is dedicated, not shared, so connection always remain strong and fast. What I like most about the hotel is that despite its close proximity to the railway station, its prices does not fluctuate in accordance to supply and demand like many other hotels did. There's also a super cheap supermarket within 15 mins walk, that's the cheapest I had seen throughout Japan! But all in all, given its price, the cleanliness, size of its bed, a wide range of amenities, and almost unbeatable location, you can hardly find any better hotel in the area. If anything, the only negative comment I have is, they don't keep your luggage overnight (no problem if within same day). So we got to drag our entire luggage to Kaike Onsen and back the following day.

This is a great location for foreign visitors who plan exploring the Chugoku region with a rail pass, as Yonago Station (a short walk from the hotel) is an important interchange station serviced by trains along the coast towards Matsue and Tottori, the Sakai Line to Yonago Airport and Sakaiminato Ferry Port, and the Hakubi Line across the mountains to Okayama to connect with the Sanyo Shinkansen. The area near the station is pretty sleepy although there are some restaurants/bars and a 7-11 convenience store in front of the station. Yonago itself has some good attractions, I particularly recommend walking up to the castle ruins for an amazing view of the city and surrounding region (including Mount Daisen). The hotel is a typical Toyoko Inn. The ladies who work there are all really nice and helpful. The breakfast options are basic but tasty. Breakfast was pretty crowded every time I was there, and a number of guests had the annoying habit of saving an entire table with a coffee cup before joining the line so that the people who were in line first had nowhere to sit. The only things I'm not a fan of are that the rooms are off-limits for cleaning for most of the day (from like... 11 AM to 4 PM), breakfast service ends too early (9:00), and the beds are kind of hard. Overall this is a serviceable, reasonably-priced, and well-situated option for the region.

Very good location close to JR railway station, a history traditional chain hotel in all over Japan, hotel with parking, convenient reception and lobby area, all staff know English well with nice and kind services, two lifts running good and fast to bedroom floor, our extra size bedroom with big big comfortable bed and down quilt , room is big enough for 3 chairs and extra round tea table, good facilities, furniture decoration and maintain in good condition, also clean and tidy inside bedroom and corridor area, reasonable room price with breakfast, not much choice but tasty, also refill fast and sufficient to all guest, hotel close to shopping and eating place.

On the basis of my initial impression, I would be giving this hotel two stars or less. However, once you get used to it, it kind of grows on you. Besides being angry that I had to wait until 16:00 in order to check in, I was also upset at the lack of closet ,drawers, or shelves in the room and knowing that I was destined to live out of my suitcase for the duration of my stay. As I already wrote, it grows on you. On the day I checked out of two star Toyoko Inn Yonago, I checked into a 4 star hotel in another city, which is where I am writing this review. In comparing the two, I now have a larger room with a larger TV screen (in neither hotel is there an English Channel). In addition I have a small closet but no drawers or shelves, so I continue to live out of my suitcase. Rating Tokoyo Inn as a two star hotel (and it makes no claims to be anything but..), I have to give it four stars.
