I had a wonderful stay at Swissôtel Almaty. The hotel is modern, elegant, and offers exceptional service. The staff were professional, friendly, and always ready to help. My room was spacious, spotless, and had an amazing view of the city and the mountains. The breakfast had a wide variety of delicious options, and all the facilities were well maintained. The location is excellent, making it easy to explore Almaty or attend business meetings. Overall, Swissôtel Almaty exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious and comfortable stay in the city. I would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I chose this hotel for our eight-day summer vacation in Almaty. We spent three weeks travelling through Central Asia, and Kazakhstan was the third country on our trip. We enjoy collecting new countries to visit, and this was our 118th country, so we consider ourselves experienced travellers. We chose this hotel because it appeared to be an exclusive and relaxing retreat. The photos on the website, the large spa, the location outside the city centre, and the beautiful outdoor pool area all gave the impression of a peaceful luxury resort. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the lack of a relaxing atmosphere. Every day, loud, upbeat music was played around the outdoor pool. During the weekend, there was even a DJ performing by the pool. On several occasions, we asked whether the volume could be turned down and whether more relaxing music could be played instead of the loud beats and rhythms that felt more appropriate for a nightclub or a gym. On two occasions, after speaking with the spa reception, they either lowered the volume slightly or turned the music off altogether. However, on most days—even weekdays when there were only a few guests by the pool, mainly adults and families—the staff refused to lower the volume or change the music. The music was so loud that we were unable to read or even take a nap, despite wearing earplugs. The same was true in the hotel’s elegant Phoenix Restaurant, where we had dinner three times. The music was consistently loud and energetic, which did not match the sophisticated atmosphere of the restaurant. In our opinion, the hotel’s image as a luxurious retreat for couples and families does not fit with the constant loud music in these areas. We did not see groups of young people looking for a party atmosphere, which made us wonder why the hotel chose music better suited to a nightclub or fitness centre. It detracted from the exclusive and tranquil experience that the hotel otherwise offers. The hotel itself is large and beautifully located in a peaceful forest setting outside the city centre. The surroundings are quiet and attractive. However, guests should be aware that traffic in central Almaty can be very heavy when travelling to and from the city. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The only drawback was that the mattress was too firm for my back. Fortunately, the hotel kindly provided three extra duvets that I could place underneath me, which made sleeping much more comfortable. Thank you for that thoughtful service. We used the gym almost every day, as we like to maintain our fitness while travelling. It is modern, exceptionally clean, and very well equipped. The hotel also offered water fitness classes and yoga sessions, but as these were conducted in Kazakh or Russian, I was unfortunately unable to participate. A special thank you to Yelena in the gym, who was incredibly helpful and service-minded. She always made sure we had towels, found me a larger exercise mat, and even filled my water bottle. Her excellent service was greatly appreciated. The gym also had Wi-Fi, which was very convenient. One small suggestion would be to add a few long resistance bands for strength training alongside the existing equipment. One disappointment was that there was no Wi-Fi around the outdoor pool area. We feel this would be a simple improvement that guests would appreciate. We especially enjoyed the outdoor cold pool, which was wonderfully refreshing during the hot July weather. We had dinner five times in two of the hotel’s restaurants. The food was excellent, especially at Phoenix Restaurant, where every meal was delicious. The waiters were professional, attentive, and friendly. We also had breakfast once, and the buffet offered an impressive selection with many healthy options. It was also possible to order freshly made omelettes. Marat, who served us at breakfast, provided outstanding service and deserves special recognition. The bell staff at the entrance were also consistently polite, welcoming, and helpful. The indoor spa is beautiful, spacious, and very relaxing, with several pools, saunas, and enjoyable hydrotherapy facilities. Unfortunately, my husband slipped and fell on the wet stairs while wearing the slippers provided by the hotel. There were no warning signs indicating that the floor was slippery, nor was there a handrail where he fell. He injured his back and suffered a large bruise. Thankfully, his injuries were not serious. However, we were surprised that no member of the management checked on him afterwards or asked how he was doing following the accident. Considering that the fall could have resulted in a much more serious injury, we felt that a simple expression of concern from the pool manager the following day would have been appropriate and appreciated. Overall, this is a beautiful, spacious hotel with an exclusive atmosphere and excellent facilities. It gives every impression of being a luxury retreat for couples and families rather than a party hotel. For that reason, it was disappointing that the loud, high-energy music around the outdoor pool and in the elegant Phoenix Restaurant did not reflect the peaceful and sophisticated experience the hotel otherwise provides. With a quieter atmosphere in these areas, this hotel could easily provide the relaxing luxury experience we had expected.
